Battle: Los Angeles (2011)

Battle: Los Angeles (2 Out of 5 Graves)

I was really looking forward to this movie. The ads looked awesome and the premise sounded good.

So we headed off to the late show last night.  The theater was packed, people were showing up just as the movie was starting and they couldn’t find seats.

We had our popcorn and drinks and we were psyched.

The movie started out with a fast paced opening, promising a great action flick to come. Then someone decided to throw in some comedy scenes which is okay, a few laughs to break the tension is okay.  But wait, you also get a drama – lots and lots of drama.

It was like someone screen tested the movie across every different demographic and they took everyone’s feedback, splitting movie evenly up among a few genres.  What was left was a bit watered down, a bit of several different movies that didn’t fully deliver on any of them fully.

That’s my adult, well thought out review.

On the more emotional side, I felt like they stole the sound effects and some of the CGI from the Transformers movies. The alien guns have a very Transformers noise to them, and so does the metallic sound of their movement.

And, the director and the actors should be made to play a single round of airsoft or paintball. If your in the open, and someone is shooting at you, you are going to get hit.

End of story.

If you really want to see it, wait for it on DVD or Itunes rentals so you don’t waste $50 bucks like I did.
