For the sixteenth of my 25 Undead Christmas presents I want a suture kit.
Its really more than just a first aid kit. The duct tape if for the normal cuts and bruises and temporary wound closure, but when you slice your leg open jumping through a plate glass window you’re going to need to put some sutures in or leave a bloody trail for the undead to follow – never a good idea. This kit is light, small, and provides enough sutures to close a few nice sized wounds. The one thing I’d find is a few extra sutures pack to throw in there. The ER is going to be a nightmare scene after the undead start biting people, so I’d suggest getting them now before it gets too bad.
As with everything about survival, you have to practice. If the first time you’re doing it is when the meat of your leg is hanging open, you’re going to find yourself in big trouble. Practice on you steak before you eat it. Put a nice slice in it, and practice closing with evenly spaced sutures.
The hardest part is learning to tie the knots, but once you have it down, you can do it with your eyes closed – which is good, because you might need to this with nothing more than a Bic to light your way.
And remember, this is just for after the undead start to eat people. Up until then, go to a doctor.
