Magic Mike (2012)

Magic Mike (2012) – 1 Out of 5 Graves

Sometimes you have to do things in a relationship you wouldn’t otherwise do. It was late, my wife wanted to watch a movie, and I’d had a few beers. She saw Magic Mike on the screen and said we should rent it.

There wasn’t really anything else on, and it was “Date Night” so I figured I’d be a good husband and rent it.

It’s not even that horrible of a movie, it’s just kinda blah. I expected a lot of hot dudes and dancing, but it was really a poorly written love story that didn’t really make any sense. The thirty year old stripper falls for the girl who wants nothing to do with him while banging several other girls, then gives it all up because he realizes he wants something else out of life.

That is the short version of the story. It just didn’t really make any sense to me. They didn’t really do a good job of explaining why he did what he did, he just kinda changed three quarters of the way through the movie.

Overall it was watchable, I just felt like it could have been done better and more honestly in regards to how male strippers would be in real life.

If you’re a male stripper let me know if I’m way off the mark here.

Dual Survivor

As most people know by now Dave Canterbury was let go after it was discovered that he falsified his credentials.

His partner, Cody Lunin issued this statement:

“…The goal of the survival instructor is to keep people alive. To accomplish this goal, honesty, integrity, trust and competence must come first. These core values cannot be compromised or people’s lives are needlessly put at risk. In a profession where human lives are at stake, dishonesty about ones background and experience is an inexcusable breach of trust.”

I have to say that I always liked Dave, he gave balance to Cody, who I feel can be a bit of a d*ck. To me, Cody comes off as arrogant and a bit crazy. Wear some damn shoes!!!

So, even though I think that Dave shouldn’t have lied, who the hell vetted his statements  for the Discovery Channel? It doesn’t take away from what he did, and he should be punished, but purely selfishly, I don’t like the new guy.

I think it would be cool to have a beer with Jospeh Teti, and I respect his skills and appreciate the service he’s given his country, but I don’t like him on the show. I feel like he’s afraid to argue with Cody and is always kissing the bare foot bandits ass, which doesn’t make for great TV. Dave was always willing to tell Cody he was being a nut when he was being a nut.

I wish you’d been more honest on your resume Dave. I’m sure I’m not the only one who misses you.

You can still enjoy Dave in the first two seasons of Dual Survivor:
