Bad Gun Handling – I WOST A TOOF

I can’t tell you how angry this makes me. Once again we have a young individual being handed a 12G without a stock and any halfway knowledgeable gun owner could have told you what the outcome would be.

Will this person want to shoot again? Will they support responsible gun ownership? How does this help anyone?

Come on, be smart and start people out with weapons they can handle. Make their first shooting experience enjoyable so they will come back and do it again.

Infrastructure Or Tax Cuts To the Rich

There are presidential candidates getting ready for 2016 who would rather give tax cuts to the rich than fix our infrastructure.

The very same companies that benefit from moving millions of tons of goods across our roads and bridges keep getting a pass on paying fair taxes. The very same people who own those companies and who make hundred of millions of dollars pay less in terms of % per dollar than I do. How is that fair?

The Walking Dead (Season 5, Episode 12)

Episode 12, Remember

Summary:

Remember kicks off with the team entering the new town. As expected the first thing the townies ask is for Team Rick’s weapons. Rick tells the townies he’s not giving up his gun to stay because he’s not sure if he wants to stay.

Cut to Rick talking to the town leader – Deanna. She wants to tape everything. She says it is for transparency.

Deanna was a state rep from Ohio. She and her husband were stopped by the military when it started and her husband used his building skills to put up the wall. Rick warns her not to let more people in. Everyone is jaded. Just looking to survive. She wants Team Rick on her side. She needs tough people to ensure the community doesn’t get swept away.

Team Rick decides to stay.  They hand in their guns but they get running water in return.

Wow, Rick looks so different without the beard! And just in time to see him without his short Jesse (a cute girl) shows up to give him a haircut. Season 5 Rick is quickly starting to look like Season 1 Rick.

Cut to Daryl being interviewed by Deanna. She asks him if he wants to be there. He says the boy and the baby deserve a roof. All he cares about is his extended family.

Rick, Daryl, and Carol don’t like the fact that they were given 2 houses. They feel like Deanna is trying to split up the team. They are all going to sleep in the same house, at least for the first night. Deanna stops by before bed and basically says she has given almost everyone jobs, but she is still trying to figure out what Ricks & Michonne’s will be – and she is still just trying to figure Daryl out.2015_TWD_S5_E12_DarylInterview

The next day Team Rick goes exploring. It causes a moment of panic when Rick looses sight of Carl & Judith. Rick is just about to have a breakdown when he bumps into Jesse and she leads him to the old couple doting on his kids.

Jesse asks if its okay for Carl to hang out with her kids. Carl meets them and is a little overwhelmed by video games and over stimulation. There is a girl there who seems unhappy. I wonder if there is a secret she knows?

When Rick and Carl are back in their own house Rick asks how Carl liked Jesse’s kids. Carl said that everyone in the town is weak, and he doesn’t want Team Rick to get weak.

Rick goes for a walk and meet’s Jesse’s husband. I thought she was single? I’m sure this will come to blows. And then the fellow says “Welcome to Alexandria.” I can’t quite remember, but I think it was mentioned on the radio near the town where Noah got Tyreese killed.

Cut to Carol’s interview. She says she has become the “Den Mother” and the group was kind enough to protect her. I almost think she’s playing weak to get underestimated. It was also strange to hear her say she loved her husband from the before.

Rick goes to check the walls while back at the house Carl sees the troubled girl he met at Jesse’s house climbing the wall to get to the “outside”. So why is she leaving? Of course Carl follows her, because heck, Carl doesn’t worry about being killed.

Rick finds some walkers outside walls, but the most disturbing thing is that when he makes it to the house where he’d stashed a semi auto it is gone.  Which is right when Carl shows up after he looses the girl he’d been following. So did the girl take Rick’s gun and why? With Carl there Rick & son proceed to put a small horde down with knives and a pipe.

Back in town Glen, Noah, and Tara meet up with some of the town regulars who want to show them around outside the walls. They are given guns, but Glenn doesn’t look happy to just have a pistol. The townies tell Glenn and the others that they lost four good people in the last month – and that is essentially why they brought Rick & crew in. The townies apparently caught one of the walkers that bit their friends and things get a little hot when their escaped walker almost eats Tara. The townie gets mad at Glenn, telling him that he’s not ready to go out on runs. Which is when Glenn tells him he’s got it backwards. It would have come to blows immediately but Deanna shows up and tries to stop it. When the townie takes a swing at Glenn he finds out they aren’t easy meat.

Deanna tells Rick she knows what jobs she wants Rick & Michonn to have. She wants them to be the town cops. They accept, which for some reason does not please Daryl.

The next thing Deanna did was tell Glenn thank you for knockng down the other townie.

The episode ends with Rick getting back into uniform and walking through the Team Rick communal house. Out on the porch Rick & Daryl make up but Carol warns Rick not to let the comforts of the town make them weak. Rick tells her it won’t. They are too hard already. And if the town doesn’t accept them, Rick says they will just take it.

And then we get teased with a few clips of future episodes. Does Daryl end up getting shot? (Again btw)

Things I loved about this episode…

  • Daryl when they just get inside the gate. “We brought dinner.”2015_TWD_S5_E12_PossumSmall
  • We almost got to see Rick’s butt.
  • Rick looks so much better cleaned shaved and with a fresh haircut. It takes fifteen years off him.
  • Carol telling Daryl to shower and wash his clothes or she is going to hose him off in his sleep.
  • Team Rick taking down the townies when they pick a fight with Glenn.

Things that I didn’t like about this episode…

  • Rick being so jaded right off the bag that he seems to be trying to scare Deanna off. Wouldn’t a part of him want to have that safe place for Little Ass Kicker?
  • Everyone just hands in their weapons?
  • Deanna’s chin. That thing scares me.
  • Rick doesn’t even say WTF to Carl when he appears out of the blue outside the wall?

Really Rutgers?

My two older boys are in their Junior years. I bout this coffee mug when they were freshman, so its not brand new, but over the last two and half years the lettering has been washing off. Every time I wash it I lose more.

It’s very clear they put the lettering on after they glazed the mugs. Which amazes me.

Come on, the mug was like $16.99 at the college bookstore.

FYI – My boys love the college so I guess I’ll let it slide this time.
