60 MIN CHALLENGE – DAY 52

Today’s workout was a challenge. I upped my speed from 2.5 mph yesterday to 2.6 mph today, and by the end I was totally feeling it. My right thigh and lower back were aching, and if I wasn’t at the 58 minute mark when it got bad I would have just called it.

It is so hard to know how hard to push. If I don’t do anything I hurt, if I work out too much I hurt, but there seems to be some point in the middle where I am okay. I always hurt some, but it feels like this odd game off see saw.

Here’s to hoping if I can bet back to 215lbs or 225lbs that the pain won’t be so easy to find.

60 MIN CHALLENGE – DAY 51

I was off today, so I had an awesome four day weekend.

I actually got out to the range around lunch, and then got on the treadmill. I still feel a little tentative and if I move the wrong way I get a twinge of pain down that sciatic nerve, but I was able to do the full 60 minutes today, even if it was at a relatively slow pace.

Baby steps.

REST DAY 16 WORKOUT

I was doing so well.

My nerve pain was something I hadn’t felt in months. I was able to go 60 minutes on the treadmill without having to worry about what the next day would feel like.

I was starting to think I was “better”. I was even thinking about getting a motorcycle.

I was so naive and silly. I thought I could try and go fastert. I pushed the speed faster, and faster, until my L3/L4/L5 reminded me that they were the master.

I can walk, and do everyday activities, so it’s not like it was 3 years ago, but the fact that I can’t do a 60 minute workout without nerve pain is a crushing defeat mentally.

Part of me was really hoping I was beyond the worst of it. In a way I still am, but only if I stay within a specific boundary.

Still, it is a hard blow to take that after just a mile, I feel that fire, that burning nerve pain in the sole of my foot.

WEEK 28 – WEIGH IN

The only way to lose weight when you can’t move as much as you want to (back pain) is to diet, diet, diet.

You have to watch what you eat and count calories. It is not fun, but it is possible to lose weight even when you can’t hit the treadmill as much as you’d like.

REST DAY 14 WORKOUT

I was hoping to make it a full 60 minutes today but at the 20 minute mark my right foot started to really burn and I didn’t want to push it so I slowed down and called it quit at the 30 minute mark as I didn’t want to push my like.

I woke up in a little pain this morning, but it disappeared by my second cup of coffee, so I was hoping I’d just slept funny.

I think I’m going to take tomorrow off and rest up a bit, and see if I can make a full 60 on Thursday.

For those of you who are new, I consider any workout that doesn’t make it to the 60 minute mark to be a rest day workout. I know, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Welcome to Undead-Earth.com.

60 MIN CHALLENGE – DAY 50

I felt pretty good while on the treadmill, but started slow at 2 mph, and only ramped up to 2.5 mph and held it there for the duration of the walk.

I felt a little burning in my right foot near the 55 minute mark but was able to finish.

It was also a milestone being my 50th 60 minute challenge!!!

Since I’ve started walking I’ve walked 154.57 miles, and I’m down 27lbs.

I’m still not back to my pre injury self from before last month. I can do everyday tasks fine, but doing my normal 60 minute workout is still hit or miss, actually, mostly miss. I’ve only been able to do the 60 minutes once in the last month.

WEEK 27 – WEIGH IN

While I didn’t lose any weight this week, I’m counting this one as a win. Last weekend was fathers day and I absolutely pigged out. My all time favorite sub is the Capastrami from Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop. If you have one by you, the food is top notch.

My wife got me a double meat Capastrami, and over the course of fathers day I ate the whole thing. Monday sucked because going back into Keto always makes me grumpy, but the sub was worth it, and I’m not going insane over the fact that my weight is basically the same as last week. Sometimes you have to live, and last week I lived.

60 MIN CHALLENGE – DAY 49

I know, I’m too stubborn for my own good sometimes.

I was going to stop at the 2.0 mile mark, and I did start very slow, at just 2.0 mph, and only increased to 2.5 mph, so I was feeling pretty good, and just kept going.

I didn’t get any discomfort until the 58 minute mark, and by then I just had to finish. I had a little burning on the ball of my right foot, but it went away as soon as I stopped walking.

Back issues suck, but I am still in better shape than I have been in for the last 10 years, so I am going to keep pushing forward.

I promise I won’t be pushing too hard though, its been a full 20 days since I was able to go a full 60 minutes.
