WEEK 33 – WEIGH IN

I am still recovering from tweaking my back, which is why I haven’t been posting any treadmill times. I’m in physical therapy, but they don’t want me to get on the treadmill yet, and I’m mostly don’g stretches and range of motion work.

When you can’t move too much you have to control your calorie intake really carefully.

I’ve cut my daily intake down to about 600 calories. It is painful at first, but after a few days your get used to it and your not starving (most of the time).

WEEK 32 – WEIGH IN

It has been a rough week when it comes to activity. Thanks to Aleve, and prednisone I”m back on my feet but getting on the treadmill was out of the question.

So how do you control your weight when you can’t do too much activity?

You have to reduce your calorie intake. I’ve reduced my intake to 50 grams of mixed nuts and two eggs for fat/protein.

After a few days you don’t even feel your kidneys trying to eat your liver.

WEEK 31 – WEIGH IN

I hurt my back a little over the weekend so I was pretty much relaxing and staying off my feet as much as possible.

Started a course of steroids and already feeling a lot better.

This week’s weigh in an estimated 245.

We’ll see how close I was to reality next week.

This was about as straight as I could stand for my office visit. More physical therapy and rest to follow.

I’ve been paying extra close attention to my died this week, which allowed me to get back on track in terms of my target weight.

I cut my daily intake down to 50 grams of mixed nuts and two eggs, with some chicken breast and sour cream thrown in for variety.

WEEK 29 – WEIGH IN

Last weekend was the 4rth of July, which means it was a long weekend, and that means I drank like a fish and even though I only ate Keto, I put a few lbs on.

On top of the long weekend, I also feel like getting below the 240’s is going to be hard. I don’t think I’ve been in the 230’s for twenty years. Is it biology? Some subconscious part of my brain that struggles to let me hit that goal. So this week is going to be fun, because I want to get back on track!!!

WEEK 28 – WEIGH IN

The only way to lose weight when you can’t move as much as you want to (back pain) is to diet, diet, diet.

You have to watch what you eat and count calories. It is not fun, but it is possible to lose weight even when you can’t hit the treadmill as much as you’d like.

WEEK 27 – WEIGH IN

While I didn’t lose any weight this week, I’m counting this one as a win. Last weekend was fathers day and I absolutely pigged out. My all time favorite sub is the Capastrami from Capriotti’s Sandwich Shop. If you have one by you, the food is top notch.

My wife got me a double meat Capastrami, and over the course of fathers day I ate the whole thing. Monday sucked because going back into Keto always makes me grumpy, but the sub was worth it, and I’m not going insane over the fact that my weight is basically the same as last week. Sometimes you have to live, and last week I lived.

WEEK 26 – WEIGH IN

Losing weight while unable to workout is really hard. I’m still recovering after I tweaked my back (because I’m an idiot who was feeling good and pushed too hard on the treadmill) and the only way to lose weight is to drastically cut calorie intake. It sucks, but it is the only option if you can’t work out.

WEEK 25 – WEIGH IN

Its been a rough ten days or so when it comes to my back and the treadmill. I pushed too hard about ten days ago and had to basically take some time to recover. I’m not sure what hurt more, the mental blow of having that burning nerve pain again, or the actual pain. I’d been doing really well since the 1st of the year, but I guess I pushed my back past that red line and it wanted to remind me that running just isn’t in my immediate future.

Which made trying to hit my weekly goal pretty hard as well. I had to cut back my calorie intake to about 800 calories a day, which fore me basically means about 100 grams of almonds plus a jar of jalapenos or garlic olives a day.

The end result is that I did get back on track, but it really wasn’t much fun. I’m going to take today off from the treadmill and try to get back on the horse tomorrow and see how my back responds.

WEEK 22 – WEIGH IN

I watched what I ate very carefully this week, but I also changed my schedule, moving from a breakfast time “one meal per day” to a dinner schedule. Not sure if careful calorie counting or the “shock” to my system of a new schedule was what drove my weight loss, but I think I might switch it up every few weeks to see.
