The Walking Dead (Season 7, Episode 4)

The Walking Dead, Season 7

Episode 4, Service

Summary:

The Cell begins by reminding us that Rick & Michonne are still a thing. She sneaks out of the house with a hidden sniper rifle – or at least tries to. She looks like she is trying to be quiet – but Rick is awake and watches her leave without comment. She takes the sniper rifle out and sits on a rusted out vehicle – maybe looking for some zombie target practice?

Everyone at Camp Rick appears to be nervous. They now Negan is coming and they know he is going to want his tribute. Which is exactly when he shows up – just a little bit early. 2016_twd_s7_e4_negan

Rick lets him, and he even brings Daryl – but he lets everyone know they can’t talk to Daryl – because he’s the help. Team Negan then goes into the town to scavenge whatever they want, including guns and Rosita’s cap.

Negan wants to meet Maggie but Gabriel protects her by claiming she is dead. They are “paying” their respects at Maggie’s grave when they hear a shot and Team Negan is introduced to “Crazy Carl” when they try to take more than half. This leads to Team Negan wanting all of the guns.

While Negan is taking the guns he points out that he is leaving Team Rick all their food – because if they die of starvation Team Negan doesn’t get their tribute. Team Negan strips the town of whatever they want – until they find that two of the guns are missing – Negan wants all the guns.

While gun drama is unfolding at Camp Rick Rosita is out killing some undead – and finding a new but empty firearm – because she know that Negan is going to strip Team Rick of all their weapons.

While Rick searches for the missing guns Father Gabriel tells Rick he has faith. They will get through it. Rick seems less sure.  Is he beaten?

The long story short is that Team Negan has taken what they wanted from Team Rick – and Rick seems resigned to the fact that they can’t fight.

Once Negan is gone Camp Rick is pretty depressed. Life isn’t going to be the same.

Rick confronts Spencer about the guns and the food he had hidden in his vents – and Spencer punches back – which almost gets Spencer his teeth punched in.

A short while later we find out that Team Negan took all of the town’s mattresses just to burn them. It was all a head game – a power play – a way to show Team Rick who is in charge.

The last thing we see before the episode ends is Rosita knocking on Eugene’s door – asking him to make her a bullet.

Things I loved about this episode…

  • Negan really does play the bad guy so well.
  • “Would you like to pay your respects?” – Father Gabriel.
  • Rick playing politician when he lies to Negan about the guns. He answers, “To the best of my knowledge,’ when Negan asks him if all the guns are in the armory.

Things that I didn’t like about this episode…

  • Negan treating Camp Rick like his grocery store and Camp Rick not having the foresight to maybe hide the good stuff?
  • Carl standing up to Team Negan and causing all of Team Rick’s guns to be taken.

Firsts…

  • Rick appears to be defeated. It is sad and a kick in the balls. Rick tells his team he is no longer in charge. Negan is.
  • We find out that Rick nows Judith is’t his.

Bad Gun Handling – Treat Every Weapon Like Its Loaded

I don’t always have the context behind a picture. People send me stuff and say things like “hay look at this”.

Sometimes I just delete the images if I’ve seen them before – other times I repost them here wrapped up with my thoughts.

I hope that this is from a training session.

I hope this is a dummy firearm.

Treat every weapon like it is real, loaded, and only point it at things you plan on destroying.

There is no debate over the right way to handle a firearm.
