I know it sound silly, but this post made me choke up.
My youngest son has epithelial basement membrane dystrophy which results in painful tears in his cornea that result in random periods of blindness and light sensitivity. The shortest of these periods for minor episodes may be only a few hours – while the longest require him to be go to the hospital and have a surgical procedure to remove the cornea when it is in shreds. Those episodes are the worst.
He is the toughest kid I know. This made me think of him.
