Bad Gun Handling – Face Holster

A Face Holster is a bad idea. The weapon is pointed at his own chest and if he makes a mistake drawing he could blow his own head off.

This is just a bad idea on so many levels.

Firearms aren’t props. They aren’t toys. This could end up badly for the gentleman wearing the Face Holster. It could also end up badly for anyone around him if this goes poorly.

Guns are not toys. Guns are not props for photo shoots. They are dangerous tools. Mishandle them and people will end up hurt.

Why do I show these videos and pictures? Because I like to go to the range and every one of these videos gives the non shooting public a bad impression of the total shooting community.

Always follow the four basic rules of Gun Safety:

  1. Always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Treat all guns as loaded at all times.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  4. Always be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.

This is a clear violation of Rule 2.

Bad Gun Handling – Too Much Pistol

Then its Too Much Pistol I suggest going with a smaller caliber. Why put a dent in someone’s forehead or break there writs? What fun is that?

It’s like groundhog day. Who keeps handing firearms to new shooters that they should never be holding? I’m going to go with a phrase I’ve been told my whole life. Bigger is not always better.

Please be safe out there.

Bad Gun Handling – Accidental Discharge

This Accidental Discharge is a direct result of not following rules one, two and three! Don’t play with firearms! I really hope no one was upstairs when this happened.

This fellow forgot the golden rule. Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.

He then pumps the shotgun with the trigger held down, which is what we call a slamfire where I am from.

Be safe out there.

Bad Gun handling – Scary AK Play

This is some Scary AK Play. It would be so easy for someone to get hurt. I can only hope those AK’s aren’t loaded. If they are that just makes this a hundred times more dangerous.

AK’s and dual piggy back rides don’t mix…ever.

Bad Gun Handling – Too Timid

Handing a Too Timid shooter a large caliber gun is just an epic display of Bad Gun Handling. The shooter is not going to have a good time.

This is how you break a nose or worse.

If you are going to hand someone a pistol, start them with a .22 first, and then make sure you show them the Weaver Stance, and only load a single shot in the clip until they are more comfortable. Not doing this can turn a Too Timid shooter into someone who never wants to go to the range again.

Giving a new user a .45 and not giving them instruction is a sure way to turn someone off the sport forever…

Bad Gun Handling – Down The Barrel

Never look Down The Barrel of a weapon unless its disassembled and triple checked as cleared. Don’t end up as a splatter on a mirror.

Thumb on the trigger? Looking down the barrel of a 45?

Don’t do this. If you need to inspect the barrel, unload the weapon, remove the slide, and examine the barrel with a bore scope. If you really need to? Because why else would you be trying to look down the barrel?

Be safe, be well, and don’t handle firearms if you don’t know how to do so safely.

Bad Gun Handling – Gun Pillow

A Gun Pillow is never a good idea. It could lead to disaster on so many levels. The actual pillow here could be ruined!

I get it. This solder was tired and just wanted to catch a few moments of rest. Yes, I see there is no magazine in the weapon. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a round in the chamber though does it?

Mmm, there has to be a better way to stow that gear right?

Bad Gun Handling – Beer And Guns

Beer And Guns do not mix. Ever. End of story. Go shooting, then enjoy a bear. After. Put on a wedding dress if you want! You know, if you are feeling pretty.

just don’t mix guns and booze at the same time. It makes all responsible gun owners look bad.

Bad Gun Handling – Too Much Gun

The good news is that she looks like she might be having fun?

The bad news is that she’s got really bad form and could hurt herself or someone else if a more experienced shooter doesn’t help her.

She’s firing a 12G with her shoulders behind her hips and her center of gravity way too far back. If that weapon has more than one shell in it, she’s at risk of falling, maybe racking that weapon with the trigger down, which could result in a slam fire.

If your going to hand a weapon to a shooter, make sure they can handle it. Build them up to weapons with more kick – and only give them a single round at a time until you are sure they can safely handle any weapon you give them.

Bad Gun Handling – Muzzle Swept

Being Muzzle Swept is a scary thing. Triply so if its a new shooter who may not have good trigger discipline either.

I don’t blame her, someone put a very dangerous rifle in her hands, and didn’t give her proper instruction.

Or at least that’s what it looks like to me.

Be careful out there…
