Bad Gun Handling – Wedding Props

Firearms are not Wedding Props! This is so bad on so many levels. She’s pointing a weapon at the camera. He’s pointing a weapon at her legs!

Guns aren’t Wedding Props people. This is how someone gets hurt, and how safe, respectful gun owners get hurt by those who don’t follow the rules.

Bad Gun Handling – Face Holster

A Face Holster is a bad idea. The weapon is pointed at his own chest and if he makes a mistake drawing he could blow his own head off.

This is just a bad idea on so many levels.

Firearms aren’t props. They aren’t toys. This could end up badly for the gentleman wearing the Face Holster. It could also end up badly for anyone around him if this goes poorly.

Bad Gun Handling – Toy Like Guns

Toy Like Guns are not cute. They are scary. This increases the chances a child is going to reach for that weapon. Don’t do this!

Do I even have to explain why this is a bad idea?

Toy Like Guns could end up with a kid reaching for it because they think its a toy. This could end up in tragedy on so many levels.

Bad Gun Handling – Too Timid

Handing a Too Timid shooter a large caliber gun is just an epic display of Bad Gun Handling. The shooter is not going to have a good time.

This is how you break a nose or worse.

If you are going to hand someone a pistol, start them with a .22 first, and then make sure you show them the Weaver Stance, and only load a single shot in the clip until they are more comfortable. Not doing this can turn a Too Timid shooter into someone who never wants to go to the range again.

Giving a new user a .45 and not giving them instruction is a sure way to turn someone off the sport forever…

Bad Gun Handling – Down The Barrel

Never look Down The Barrel of a weapon unless its disassembled and triple checked as cleared. Don’t end up as a splatter on a mirror.

Thumb on the trigger? Looking down the barrel of a 45?

Don’t do this. If you need to inspect the barrel, unload the weapon, remove the slide, and examine the barrel with a bore scope. If you really need to? Because why else would you be trying to look down the barrel?

Be safe, be well, and don’t handle firearms if you don’t know how to do so safely.

Bad Gun Handling – Asking For Trouble

Shoving a firearm down the back of your swimsuit is Asking For Trouble and is Bad Gun Handling. They make holsters for a reason!

This could so easily end up in tragedy. If she goes to grab that firearm and it snags on the elastic she could end up with a graze wound across a cheek or worse. Hopefully no on is standing behind her (and is distracted) when she decides to whip that thing out.

She better center that semi auto and hope that if she has an accidental discharge it goes between her cheeks.

It is never a good idea to put a gun down your pants (or bathing suite). Get a holster!!!

Bad Gun Handling – Gun In Pants

Do not put a Gun In Pants! This is what holsters were made for. Sticking a firearm directly into your pocket or pants is Bad Gun Handling! I’ve seen so many clips of accidental discharges when the person doing this tries to pull the weapon out quickly.

Yeah, that’s why they make holsters. At least its a revolver so she’s less likely to accidentally shoot herself, but still…

Bad Gun Handling – Eyes & Ears People!!!

It is not safe to shoot without Eyes & Ears People! Wear safety glasses. Put on ear protection. Trust me you will thank me! I’ve seen brass ricochet off nearby objects and come back at the shooter. I’ve also seen brass come back at an odd angle directly at my face. Maybe the round was outside spec or maybe it was the wind. The point is not having eye protection may result in a severe injury. Wear safety gear!

Please be careful out there. Eyes and ears should be worn every time you shoot!

Bad Gun Handling – Why Risk It

Why Risk It? Why would you ever point a gun at your face like that? Take the weapon apart so the barrel and the trigger group are separate!

I think there are a ton of other ways to film this and examine the site picture without putting a gun in perfect alignment to your head. The only way I’m looking at a barrel is if its outside the weapon.

Sure, he probably cleared this gun, but you really should treat every firearm as if its loaded, all the time. If you need to examine a weapon like this, disassemble it so there is no way it can go off.

It only takes one moment of confusion to end in a tragedy.

Be safe out there people.

Bad Gun Handling – Too Much Kick

Firing a weapon with Too Much Kick can leave you with a cut on your forehead or worse. Bigger isn’t always better! I’d much rather have a shoot enjoy the day at the range instead of being scared to handle a firearm.

That looks like it hurt, and scared the pee out of him.

Don’t hand a new shooter a high powered hand gun.

It’s not going to end well.

Be save out there.
