Sporting Clays

I took my youngest son Ryan and his friend Jon out to the sporting clays range for the first time.

We didn’t keep score as they were just learning to shoot fast moving targets from different angles, but they had a ball. They have both shot from the stationary thrower a ton, but this was their first time shooting at targets from different angles.

Jon shooting at a very high and far off clay. He did get it on the second run, but I missed that on camera, so all we have is a miss. Sorry Jon.

Clay Day

My younger son and myself decided to go out in the cold and try out his new Tristar Raptor in 20G. This is his first semi auto and he loved it. The recoil is almost nill and the gun shoots beautifully.

He had a great day, and actually had multiple shots where he broke both clays on his first shot, which he thought was awesome.

He’s had a cold for several days, but if he still feels good tomorrow I’m hoping to take him to the sporting clay range for the first time.

Have fun, be safe, and if you are looking at youth model 20G, the Tristar is a good bet. We put 60 rounds through it today with only a few small issues that will most likely clear up as the gun breaks in. Out of 60 rounds we had 2 failure to ejects, but the weapon was new so it is still in its break in phase.

We will keep you up to date as we shoot more, but I expect it to get better as the metal on metal parts wear themselves together.

CZ 75 Range Day 4

It was a crazy weather day today. I’m re-posting this today because my brother sent me some video of that day. I loved the sound of the rain.

After being frigid earlier in the week it was like fifty degrees today. The lake out by the range was covered in mist and the range had fog drifting across it.

I took my oldest brother who’d never shot a pistol before out to plink some targets and we got two hundred rounds down range before it started to really pour.

When the zombies come I’ll hand him a shotgun, but until he practices a bit more with a pistol he won’t be covering my flank.

My cartridge count for the CZ is now up to 900 Rounds.
