Raise The Minimum Wage

Support raising the minimum wage.

We the American people are subsidizing companies like Walmart that don’t pay their workers enough money to live – and they are the most successful company in the country.

Those who don’t want to raise the minimum wage are basically slavers. They want to keep the poor poor because it puts money in their pockets.

Facts:

1.) Only 1 out of 10 minimum wage workers are teens.

2.) Give money to the working class and we spend it.

3.) The companies benefiting from a low minimum wage are already the richest in the world.

CZ 75 Range Day 5

I took my oldest boy out today to shoot the CZ75. He’d shot the .22 before, but it was his first day shooting a 9mm.

We started with basic loading. He struggled a little with it at first:

Once he started to get it he shot his first two clips, and ran into a small issue.

2014_June_7_RangeDay_Pic1 From behind him it looked like he was going high, then over-correcting low.  So I used a few sheets of regular targets and stapled them up and down a target.

His very first shot after I put up the “long tall” target was at the very bottom of the paper. this allowed him to walk the rounds up the target and realize how small correcting make a huge impact on what your aiming a handgun at at 15 yards.

He fired his last round at the original target and did much better. It was nice to see how a little practice and feedback helped him go from mostly missing the target completely to being able to see them hitting close enough to give corrective feedback.2014_June_7_RangeDay_Pic4

As for me, I am consistently a hair low and to the left because I am over-correcting for my trigger pull that lifts high to the right.2014_June_7_RangeDay_Pic3

Security Doors

Okay, first of all this is some pretty cool destruction.

More importantly, if you are building something that you want to last, and to survive all different types of attacks, I want the door on the left (but not the music they are playing in the background – argh)

What do you make the walls out of if you have this door?  It looks awesome, but if I put it on my house those sledges could tear through my plywood exterior walls in a matter of minutes (if that long).  So do you need all concrete and steel with security windows as well? When they bring out the two man door breaker the walls is actually giving before the door!

Jon Stewart & Open Carry

Look, I love to go to the range and plink. I love shooting clays even more.  I support the 2nd amendment and believe we should have the right to have firearms for personal protection and sporting needs.

I don’t think you need a fully auto rifle or a hundred clip however. I just don’t see how any sportsman or hunter really needs that. I’m fine with a thirty round limit – which would double the state limit of my own home state.

I just don’t think people need to carry long rifles in public. I don’t see the need. It makes it harder for the “normal” people out there to feel comfortable, and it also puts gun supporters like myself in a bad spot. People tend to lump the “gun guys” all together, even us more reasonable ones.

I do however support concealed carry. If you take a course and can show you can safely handle and carry the weapon, you should be allowed, discretely.

The people forcing these dumb open carry debates are hurting the overall cause in my opinion. No one is coming to take your guns. We should all support keeping weapons away from people who need mental help, have violent tendencies, or have a history of criminal behavior.
