Bad Gun Handling – Masks And The Range

Masks And The Range do not go together. Not when the mask is a horses head. You need good visibility when shooting! I vote Neigh on this one.

First Strike:

Wearing something that restricts your vision like a horse mask while holding a loaded weapon just doesn’t make sense.

Second Strike:

Firing into a target at close range. Shrapnel anyone?

Third Strike:

No ear protection. I put an arrow on it to prove it:

Guns are not toys. Guns are not props for photo shoots. They are dangerous tools. Mishandle them and people will end up hurt.

Why do I show these videos and pictures? Because I like to go to the range and every one of these videos gives the non shooting public a bad impression of the total shooting community.

Always follow the four basic rules of Gun Safety:

  1. Always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Treat all guns as loaded at all times.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  4. Always be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.

This is a clear violation of Rule 2.

Bad Gun Handling – Explosive Targets

Explosive Targets can be deadly. Use them as designed and make sure you are a safe distance away. Any debris is going to become flak!

This guy is lucky he had time to dodge the projectile kicked back at him. This is what makes shooting explosive targets so dangerous. Make sure you are shooting from cover, there are no loose objects around to become shrapnel, and you are a good, safe distance away before you pull the trigger on a reactive target down range.

Be safe, be careful…

Bad Gun handling – Safe Shooting

Safe Shooting means knowing what is in front of your weapon. It also means having a good understanding of how the weapon works. Safe Shooting means stopping and thinking about what you are doing so accidents don’t happen.

Stop, take a breath, think about what your about to do when you squeeze that trigger.

Don’t point your weapon as anything you don’t intend to destroy, in this case using your truck as a gun rest probably wasn’t such a good idea…

Bad Gun Handling – Kids & Guns

Kids & Guns are like oil and water. They should not mix unless you really intend them to go together. Which requires special attention.

Kids should only be allowed to handle firearms under close supervision, and just like any shooting, should always starts with small calibers with minimal kick.

This is just scary and wrong on so many levels. Kids & Guns should be trained with small calibers and careful safety instructions!

Bad Gun Handling – Glock Croc

A Glock Croc is Bad Gun Handling. This is not a safe method to store a handgun. Weapons should be stored in holsters!

Yes, I know its a Smith & Wesson, but that doesn’t rhyme does it?

In any case, never use anything as a holster that wasn’t designed to be a holster. This is how you lose a toe or shoot someone else by accident when you go to pull the gun free.

Be careful, be safe, and always wear eyes and ears when shooting.

Bad Gun Handling – Belly Holster

The Belly Holster is not a thing. Don’t do it. It is Bad Gun Handling. Who wants belly jelly in their receiver? (Don’t google that.)

There are two major issues with this footage.

The first, and maybe the scariest is that the shooter on the left is behind the shooter on the left. All it would take is a little distraction and a round could be heading for his buddy.

The second thing wrong with this movie is that you should never use your gut as a holster. Ever. End of story.

So many chances for something to go horribly wrong here.

Stay say out there.

Bad Gun Handling – Parkour Edition

There is no safe shooting that includes the Parkour Edition of running, rolling, and shooting. This is just Bad Gun Handling. If you want to enjoy some Parkour Edition fun do it with a Nerf Gun!

I really hope this isn’t real. I it just a bad idea to be running and jumping with not one but two handguns. There is a point where its just pure reckless, and that point is when you are doing backflips off a wall for me…

Bad Gun Handling – Bye Bye Shotgun

Bye Bye Shotgun. That is what happens when you hand a novice shooter a 12g they aren’t ready to handle yet.

This is scary on so many levels. I’ve seen people lose fingernails and skin when an overpowered firearm kicks out of their control. Don’t set up a new shooter for a Bye Bye Shotgun situation!

Whoever handed this woman a shotgun owes her a big apology, she could have been really hurt.

Bad Gun Handling – Supervision

Supervision is required whenever a new shooter has a weapon. An experienced shooter should be on the novices shoulder at all times!

Look at her form, is it a surprise she went down? Her shoulders are behind her hips and her weight is already behind her center of balance. This is why Supervision is important when new shooters are introduced to firearms!

This isn’t her fault, its whomever handed her that shotgun without giving her proper instruction.

Bad Gun Handling – Props

Guns are not Props for your photoshoot. Especially when you do it unsafely by sticking weapons in your pants without a holster!

Guns are not Props for your photo shoot. While I hope they unloaded the weapons and made sure they were safe, this is how accidents happen. Someone makes a momentary mistake that could cost a life.

Guns stuck down our waistband without a holster is even worse.

Be careful out there, shoot safely, shoot smart…
