Homemade indestructible weapons…
Defiance – Season 1 – Episode 1 & 2
Episodes 1 & 2, Pilot & Down in the Ground Where the Dead Men Go
Summary:
Defiance takes place on a post apocalyptic earth after aliens have landed, terraformed, and generally laid waste to human kind. Several wars have been fought, and the economy appears to have been put back into a mostly barter based system.
Our main characters, Jeb and Irisa are an unlikely pair. He’s a ex soldier who has taken the fierce Irathient child Irisa Nyira as his adopted daughter. Jeb is simple and violent, but also funny and loveable, giving balance to the raw aggression that Irisa has in spades.
If you liked “The Game of Thrones” I think you will loke Defiance. It has intrigue, action, great characters, and keeps you wanting more. I know I’m looking forward to next weeks episode.
Things I loved about this episode…
- The relationship that Irisa and Jeb have. I love her intensity and how well she portrays pain and love with just a few facial expressions.
- The multi layered story.
- Seeing Julie Benz again (formerly Rita on Dexter) as Amanda, the Mayor.
- Irisa’s kick *ss nature.
Things that I didn’t like about this episode…
- Episode 2 was not quiet so fast paced as the pilot. I’m hoping that next week’s episode picks up a bit.
Another Sunday Without TWD
It’s here again, another Sunday without The Walking Dead to enjoy.
This week I really miss the love story between Glenn & Maggie.
Magic Mike (2012)
Magic Mike (2012) – 1 Out of 5 Graves
Sometimes you have to do things in a relationship you wouldn’t otherwise do. It was late, my wife wanted to watch a movie, and I’d had a few beers. She saw Magic Mike on the screen and said we should rent it.
There wasn’t really anything else on, and it was “Date Night” so I figured I’d be a good husband and rent it.
It’s not even that horrible of a movie, it’s just kinda blah. I expected a lot of hot dudes and dancing, but it was really a poorly written love story that didn’t really make any sense. The thirty year old stripper falls for the girl who wants nothing to do with him while banging several other girls, then gives it all up because he realizes he wants something else out of life.
That is the short version of the story. It just didn’t really make any sense to me. They didn’t really do a good job of explaining why he did what he did, he just kinda changed three quarters of the way through the movie.
Overall it was watchable, I just felt like it could have been done better and more honestly in regards to how male strippers would be in real life.
If you’re a male stripper let me know if I’m way off the mark here.
Dual Survivor
As most people know by now Dave Canterbury was let go after it was discovered that he falsified his credentials.
His partner, Cody Lunin issued this statement:
“…The goal of the survival instructor is to keep people alive. To accomplish this goal, honesty, integrity, trust and competence must come first. These core values cannot be compromised or people’s lives are needlessly put at risk. In a profession where human lives are at stake, dishonesty about ones background and experience is an inexcusable breach of trust.” |
I have to say that I always liked Dave, he gave balance to Cody, who I feel can be a bit of a d*ck. To me, Cody comes off as arrogant and a bit crazy. Wear some damn shoes!!!
So, even though I think that Dave shouldn’t have lied, who the hell vetted his statements for the Discovery Channel? It doesn’t take away from what he did, and he should be punished, but purely selfishly, I don’t like the new guy.
I think it would be cool to have a beer with Jospeh Teti, and I respect his skills and appreciate the service he’s given his country, but I don’t like him on the show. I feel like he’s afraid to argue with Cody and is always kissing the bare foot bandits ass, which doesn’t make for great TV. Dave was always willing to tell Cody he was being a nut when he was being a nut.
I wish you’d been more honest on your resume Dave. I’m sure I’m not the only one who misses you.
You can still enjoy Dave in the first two seasons of Dual Survivor:
