Bad Gun Handling – Walking In Front Of Weapons

Walking In Front Of Weapons is real good way to ruin your day. Even if this howitzer is firing blanks there is still enough energy to blow your eardrums and take your head off. Take my advice and take the long way around. Walking In Front Of Weapons like this is just asking for trouble. The kind that will leave you crippled or dead.

Walking In Front Of Weapons Is Not A Good Idea

Why do I show these videos? Because I like to go to the range and every one of these videos gives the non shooting public a bad impression of the total shooting community.

Always follow the four basic rules of Gun Safety:

  1. Always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Treat all guns as though they are loaded.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  4. Always be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.

This is a clear violation of Rule 1 and Rule 2. No way walking in front of a howitzer counts as pointing it in a safe direction. Clearly that same principal would impact Rule 2. Treat this beast as if its loaded so it doesn’t decide to take a bite out of you.

Bad Gun Handling – Pregnant Posing

Pregnant Posing with firearms is Bad Gun Handling. Guns aren’t toys for photoshoots.

Treat them with respect. They are not props. I don’t get why people feel the need to pose with their weapons? I hope these are not loaded, but I don’t have any way to know that for sure. In any case I don’t see how a pregnant woman double fisting assault rifles help push responsible gun ownership?

This is a clear violation of Rule 2. Using firearms as photoshoot props is not treating them like loaded weapons. The 2nd Amendment is clear. The people of the United States have the right to bear arms under a well regulated militia. To me, well regulated means mandatory training licenses, and insurance.

Bad Gun Handling – 12g Pistol Grip

Handing a novice shooter a 12g Pistol Grip is just Bad Gun Handling. I know people want to shoot the big guns that make the loudest noise sometimes. I get it. People see a ton of movies where people are double wielding shotguns. That is movie magic people! It’s not real! Gun owners and range owners have to make sure shooters don’t get hurt – because if they do get hurt they aren’t going to enjoy the sport.

I don’t blame this fellow, I blame whoever handed him that 12g.

Bad Gun Handling – Guns Down Your Pants

Putting a Guns Down Your Pants is just a bad idea. Guns aren’t props or toys, and using them like this puts everyone at risk.

The first risk is that someone screws up and they get shot in the butt. A handgun should be in a holster if you are storing it on your person. Doing otherwise risks and accidental discharge which could maim or kill.

The second risk is that it helps portray gun owners in a way that might not be the best.

Be responsible out there!

Bad Gun Handling – Losing Toes?

Do you ever go to the range with the intention of Losing Toes? I don’t.

This is why training with an experienced firearms instructor is so important. A single mistake can cost you a finger, toe, or even your life. Don’t risk Losing Toes because you wanted to try and figure it out on your own. Hire someone with experience and practice with an unloaded weapon before you ever try your draw with live rounds.

Be careful out there…

Who needs toes anyway?

Bad Gun Handling – Not A Toy

Guns are Not A Toy. What happens when you treat a firearm like a toy? People get hurt or killed. Don’t follow this example of Bad Gun Handling.

Is this real? I’m not sure. The way they both react makes me think it is.

This Accidental Discharge is exactly why every gun owner should be forced to carry insurance for their weapons. No better way to ensure safety than making people pay if they screw up. You know, just like we do with cars. This example of Bad Gun Handling is why every gun owner should be forced to take a safety class and register their firearms.

Multiple family members are in law enforcement. It’s not fair to them that anyone can go buy a gun without having to take a basic safety class and insure it. The moment a cop get a call to go to this house he should know the owner has a firearm. That should come up on his scanner.

Every gun should be instantly mappable to the registered owner, and incidents like this should revoke that right for at least a year, if not longer.

Bad Gun Handling – Scope Cut

Getting Scope Cut is no fun. This is how you get an interesting scar at best and lose an eye at worst. Overall, just scary.

What scares me is her finger is forward like she’s going for the trigger. Unless that is an air rifle she risks getting cut by that scope.

I don blame the shooter here. I am assuming someone handed her that weapon. They are the person to blame for this. It is also another great example of why basic safety and gun insurance should be a requirement for ownership. Whoever handed her that weapon should be liable for her eye surgery bill if she pulls that trigger.

Bad Gun Handling – Know Your Weapons

This is why it is so important to Know Your Weapons. Where is the muzzle? What is the offsite between the muzzle and the sights? Just because you can see down the sights doesn’t mean that the muzzle is clear.

Think he can sell this as a Speed Holes mod? I’d love to know what he told his spouse when he got home. Did he go with something like road debris hit him or was he honest and just told the truth. He F*cked Up.

This guy Almost Lost His Head. Never, ever, look down the barrel of a weapon. Not unless you want to featured on Bad Gun Handling!

Never point a weapon at anything you don’t intend to destroy.

Treat every weapon as if its loaded.

Bad Gun Handling – Vehicle Damage

This Vehicle Damage had two causes. The first was excitement. I am positive this guy bought a new gun as was excited to shoot it. The second was not fully understanding how powerful the weapon was. The result was him blowing out his stop lights and turn signals.

This is why stopping and thinking about safety is always important. Thankfully it doesn’t look like the debris from the truck hurt anyone but it could have.

Be safe out there…
