Stainless Steel Eye Screws

These Stainless Steel Eye Screws are worth there weight in gold. Need to hang something up in the wilderness? These Stainless Steel Eye Screws are just the thing you need. They easily screw into trees and the sides of buildings. That gives you the ability to hang stuff. Maybe you need to string some game up to butcher it? Or keep gear close to the doors or windows where you might need it. I also love them to hang lights.

Those uses are mostly pre Apocalypse though. Post Apocalypse I love these Eye Screws for a bunch of different reasons. The first is basic security. With some line and a few household objects you can create a trip line that will make noise. That is handy if you don’t have 100% control over the area you are sleeping. These Eye Screws are also perfect to make other types of traps. Those could be more benign trip lines or more deadly traps if the situation warrants lethal force.

Once the shelves are empty and the survivors have picked over what’s left, you better be ready for scavengers trying to take what you have. It is just how the world works.

Someone asked me why I put these in the Survival Technology Gear category. The answer is pretty simple. Try making one of these by hand with nothing but a fire and some hammers.

Automatic Watch

This Automatic Watch is one of those basic pieces of gear that everyone needs. It’s an amazing watch that looks nice and is highly functional. Best of all, as long as you wear it, you never have to worry about it “running out of power”. You are literally winding its gears every time you move your arm!

Pre disaster you can wear this Watch anywhere and everywhere. It looks amazing and goes with everything from jeans and a tee to formal wear. It dresses up casual clothes and dresses down a suit. That means you can wear it all the time. Which means it will be on you when you need it.

My suggestion is to get Automatic Watches for every member of your party. Sync them up, and everyone will be on the same time!

This means you don’t have to worry about the batteries going dead. Which is great, because watch batteries are super hard to find once the apocalypse starts.

Waterproof Headphones

These Waterproof Headphones are awesome. When it comes to wet and bad weather I always choose my Waterproof Headphones. I can use them while swimming. They are perfect while walking my dog in the rain. It also means if I want to keep a voice discretely in my ear regardless of the weather I can. Wireless is great, but running out of batteries sucks. Gas Chainsaw

A good Gas Chainsaw can save you hours of work. I’ve learned my lesson with cheaper brands, although it did take a while. Four cheap chainsaws later and I finally bought one that will last, and which I trust to continue working for as long as I maintain it. I would have saved money in the long term if I’d just purchased a high quality Chainsaw to begin with. Give me a good chainsaw and some time and I can cut enough wood to last through the winter – or build palisade walls – or build a massive raft.

If you are planning on going four wheeling, or even just taking the road less traveled, having a Gas Chainsaw on your vehicle can mean the difference between quickly cutting up a fallen tree blocking your path – or being stuck there while you scout another path around.

Many times survival comes down to having the right tool at the right time, and this Chainsaw is one of those tools that can make surviving Off Grid so much easier.

High Definition Monocular

This is my third High Definition Monocular and so far the clear winner.

I’m fairly rough on my gear, so I’m likely the root cause of the first two getting broken. A year and a half in and this High Definition Monocular is still good to go. It has some scratches and dings, but the visual quality is still top tier. I take my Monocular on hikes, to the range, and generally anywhere I might want to get a better look at what is going on around me.

If you can see it coming, you have more time to decide on the best course of action. Sometimes that is just to get a camera out so I can get a good picture, and sometimes that is to get out of the way if a Momma Bear and cubs wants my place at my fishing spot.

During a natural disaster, or unnatural disaster like a zombie apocalypse, having the ability to see what’s coming will mean the difference between life and death.

Weapon Mounted Light

It is hard to defend yourself in the dark. Make sure you can defend yourself with this Weapon Mounted Light! This Light really serves two purposes. I’m going to start with the more important one. If I draw my weapon and its dark, something has gone wrong. I feel threatened. It is really easy in a situation like that to be on a hair trigger. This Light makes sure I can positively identify what’s in front of me, and not shoot a family or friend who fled to my house when the power went out and the looting started. Secondly, its hard to shoot a threat if you can’t see it. Once I’ve positively identified my target and determined my life is at risk, this Light means I can track my target and defend myself effectively.

I don’t advise firearms for home defense, but if you really feel you have to use a firearm to check out that bump in the night, you better have this Light attached to your firearm so you can 100% positively identify what you are about to shoot. Don’t shoot a family member who is sneaking in late after a night out with their friends. With a firearm you better positively identify what you are shooting at – and that means having Weapon Mounted Light on all home defense weapons. For the record I preferer Baseball Bats for home defense. If you do panic and swing you are less likely to kill someone you love with a bat.

This Slim EDC Flashlight is always in my pocket or clipped to my Tactical Vest. Before I found this Flashlight I was struggling to find a flashlight that fit in my pocket but was also strong enough to use for multiple purposes. I wanted something light enough to put between my teeth or clip to my hat for ad hoc repairs. It also needed to be bright enough to use in a self defense situation. We have several of these Blink Outdoor Security Cameras. We watch our side field and outside cat colony. I have another pointed towards the woods and the side of the house and another looking at the front walkway. I know when kids or dog walkers are cutting through my woods instead of walking around the block, as well as when the deer are grazing in the field next to my house. Of course I also like to know if anyone decides to try to raid my mailbox or decides to be a porch pirate.
