The Walking Dead (Season 7, Episode 13)

The Walking Dead, Season 7

Episode 13, Bury Me Here

Summary:

The Kingdom

Bury Me Here kicks off with a brief touching moment between Morgan and one of the kids in the Kingdom and then jumps over to Carol. She’s come to the Kingdom  to talk to Morgan. She’s realized that something must have gone wrong if Jesus brought Daryl and the others to the Kingdom. She suspects that everything isn’t okay but Morgan won’t tell her, he tells her she needs to go talk to Daryl. He offers to go with her to Alexandria but she doesn’t want to go yet.

Meanwhile Ezekiel is getting some bad news. Weevils have invaded his garden. The garden will need to be cut down and burnt to keep the weevils from getting to the main crops.  A short while later the Kingdom team goes out to make another drop to the Saviors only to find the road has been blocked by shopping carts. Richard gets them out of the truck and they move to get around the blockage, weapons drawn. It all turns out to be a rouse though. Richard was there earlier watching Carol. He’s trying to push Ezekiel to fight with Rick against the Saviors.

They move around the blockade and make it to their meet with the Saviors a little late. Things get a little tense when the Saviors want Ezekiel’s guns after they show up with only a 11 instead of 12 melons as tribute. Ezekiel (like an idiot) tells his people to hand over their guns, at which point the Saviors decide they need to teach Ezekiel a lesson. A gun is pointed at Richard’s head but he is to resolved to die so the gun shifts and we hear a shot before it cuts to commercial. At least if Richard had been the one who died it would have been fitting, since he likely staged the whole roadblock so he could get rid of one of the melons, knowing it would enrage the Saviors.

They shot the kid, but it was in the thigh and it sounds like they hit an artery. They pile into the truck to take the kid to Carol’s (where there are medical supplies) and Richard looks like the gravity of his actions have finally hit him. He got that kid wounded, and likely killed. Yep, he dead. This pushes Morgan over the edge. He wanders off, the voices back in his head. He holds a knife to his wrist and freaks out as the reality hits him. He remembers turning and seeing Richard at the roadblock. I think Morgan just connected the dots.

He goes back to the Kingdom and confronts Richard who spills the beans. Richard honestly thought he was going to be first. He didn’t mean to get the kid killed. For a brief moment you think Richard is sorry, but then he goes into a rant and tries to push Morgan’s buttons.

The next day they pack up the truck with a single melon and go back out to meet the Saviors. The Savior commander makes the guy who shot the kids walk back and threatens to kill him if he says a word. The dude starts walking and then Richard hands over the melon. For a moment we think the drop is done – then Morgan goes berserk and kills Richard. No one lifts a hand to save him, and that is before Morgan tells them what Richard did.

At first I was happy that Morgan did it – until he started to yap and told the Saviors he did it because he wanted them to know that “he” got it.

After Morgan goes back to the grave and finds Richard’s daughters backpack in the dirt he goes to Carol’s house and tells her the truth. Negan killed Glenn and Abraham.

Morgan leaves – to kill zombies or Saviors? I’m not really sure.

Carol goes to the Kingdom and tells Ezekiel they need to fight, and he agrees, but not “today”.

The last thing we see is Morgan sharpening his staff into a spear.

Things I loved about this episode…

  • Morgan’s interaction with the young warrior.

Things that I didn’t like about this episode…

  • The heart wrenching agony of knowing that Carol is about to get her world shattered again when she finds out how many people died at the hands of the Saviors.
  • Why would Ezekiel give up his guns? You have to realize at that point that the Saviors are going to hurt you if you don’t have weapons.
  • Morgan’s pain when he says his son’s name instead of Benjamin’s.

Firsts…

  • The first time we Richard get someone killed by trying to be sneaky.

Bad Gun Handling – Wedding Style

Where do we start?

I guess with the bad finger discipline? The female totally has her finger on the trigger. At least the guy is keeping his trigger finger on the gun frames – and not pointing his weapon at the photographer.

The next thing I would point out is that while I love guns but I don’t see any reason to bring them to my wedding shoot. (Get it, I made a funny.)

If you want people to feel more comfortable with firearms you need to stop stuff like this. Be responsible. Act responsible. Follow safe gun handling precautions.

The Walking Dead, Season 7

Episode 12, Say Yes

Summary:

Rick & Michonne

Say Yes kicks off with Rick and Michonne out scavenging, looking for anything they can find of value, including a bit of alone time. As they are out they find two people driving gold balls before moving on. Who were they? I don’t know.

Michonne wants to go back but Rick wants to keep going. Just a little farther.

While Rick is napping in the van Michonne hears a deer moving in the woods and Rick wants to get it for her as repayment for the one he took and gave to the Saviors. While they are moving through the woods they see a compound below them and find a zombie soldier with a rifle still on his back. They kill the walker and take his guns.

Once inside the compound they find a lot of brass on the ground. Large bore rounds.

Rick hopes it means there are military grade weapons to be found. Across from the compound they find an amusement park with lots of zombie soldiers around.

Many of them still have their rifles on their shoulders. Rick and Michonne are both excited until the ceiling of the building they are on caves in. Below them they hit the jack pot. A store room full of food.

The next day Rick & Michonne go out to clear the field. They want to close off part of the field so they can take the other zombies out without getting swarmed. Unfortunately their plan doesn’t work out quite like expected and when a zombie gets its rifle stuck on some debris they are forced to jump in the car they were going to use to plug the hole in the fence and then roll right through the gap which leaves them surrounded by biters.

After a quick escape through the sun roof they find themselves fighting to clear the amusement park. Like an idiot Rick climbs a Ferris wheel to take a shot at the deer and then falls and almost gets him and Michonne both killed.

After almost dying they go around the park and collect all the weapons.

When Rick takes the guns to the Trash People they aren’t as pleased as Team Rick would have hoped. They want more guns. This leads to a strange negotiation with the head woman of the Trash People. Could she not speak before the ZA?

Alexandria

Back in  town Rosita is still raging. She wants to take it to the Saviors now – and doesn’t care who she shows her teeth too. She goes out to find weapons but when she fails to find any she goes to Father Gabriel to rage at him. He tells her the truth. It’s easier to be dead but the group still needs her.

Meanwhile Tara is watching Judith, and she is agonizing over whether to tell Rick about the people at Oceanside. She knows they could use their help and their guns, but is afraid that if Rick went to find them it would just turn into a firefight before the Saviors were ever even involved.

Rosita isn’t ready to do it by Rick’s playbook. Instead she steals a sniper rifle and goes to offer Sasha an offer to team up. Sasha warns Rosita that if they do this they can’t be caught.

Things I loved about this episode…

  • Michonne playfully plinking the cans from the amusement park shooting game.
  • Rick pulling the zombies lower body apart that was stuck in the car windshield.
  • Michonne’s double sword kill.
  • fuckyeahwalkingdeadmemes’s comment..
  • Rick telling Michonne that he’s been having trouble sleeping and baring his heart. It was sad but it was also sweet.

Things that I didn’t like about this episode…

  • Why is Rick so keen on staying away? I feel like with Carl and Judith back in Alexandria he might not want to stay away too long?

Firsts…

  • We see Judith with hair!!!

Bad Gun Handling – Turning Away From The Firing Line

Whenever I take people to the range one of the basic rules is you never point the gun away from the targets. If it malfunctions, hold onto it while still pointing down range, count to ten, and then place it down, again facing the targets, so I can examine and clear the weapon.

Never swing the weapon with your body unless you lift it and point it to the sky and your finger is off the trigger and the weapon is safe.

Be safe, treat every weapon like its loaded and only point it at things you intend to destroy.
