Leather Work Gloves

If you spend any time tinkering, fixing, or doing home maintenance, you will appreciate these Leather Work Gloves. They are comfortable and have armor in just the right spots. Most importantly, they leave your thumb and first two fingers free. That means I can use these Leather Work Gloves without having to take them off when trying to pick up small screws, nuts, or any tiny part.

When I’m working on things in my garage I usually have a tablet loaded with diagrams or instructions, which makes these Leather Work Gloves perfect as they leave me free to use the tablet screen. That also means then when my phone auto locks and I need to get back into it to answer a text or pick some new background music I don’t have to take my Gloves off just to do a simple task.

It also makes them good shooting Gloves. Sometimes gloves are just a bit too big or get snagged as I’m loading shotshells and with these Gloves I don’t have to worry about that. They are perfect for going out to shoot a round of clays or two when the weather is a bit windy or cold.

When it comes to the Zombie Apocalypse, these Leather Work Gloves give me everything I want. They leave me able to load and shoot without any risk of obstructions while also providing critical protection against cuts, scrapes, and maybe even a bite.

Tundra Ballistic Bib Overall

My Tundra Ballistic Bib Overall has lasted years. I’ve worn it through snowstorms, sleet and freezing rain, and just bitterly cold days and it has kept me warm throughout. If you are going to be dealing with cold weather, you can’t go wrong by putting on this Tundra Ballistic Bib Overall.

When you order your Tundra Ballistic Bib Overall remember to check your size, and go one bigger, especially if you expect really cold weather. The reason? You want to leave room for layers. Don’t worry about them falling off. They have over the shoulder straps, so even if you need take a few layers off they won’t fall off.

Unless you want to freeze when you need to be outside for extended periods of time, these Overalls are critical. They are designed to be durable and are great for cold weather camping, hiking, and hunting. I love to shoot clays, and some of the best days I’ve had at the range are cold and wet. There is just nothing like being out when everyone else stayed home. It makes me feel like I have the whole place to myself.

Columbia Watertight Jacket

There is nothing more refreshing than being on hike when a rain squall comes in and cools you off. That part is always nice. It isn’t so nice when the temperature drops a few degrees and that cooling rain turns into a chilly, warmth sucking drain, which is where this Columbia Watertight Jacket saves the day. It is light enough to carry everywhere, and perfect to shield you against the cold rains that sap your strength.

I keep a Columbia Watertight Jacket in my vehicle. No matter what the weather is, I’m prepared to deal with it. If you have my luck, you only ever have vehicle trouble when it is raining. It is also when my buddies usually call me to help them get there boat out of the water before the storm really hits. Which is why I keep the gear I need to handle a wide range of weather conditions in my vehicle. With a baseball cap and the hood of this Columbia Watertight Jacket up I can keep my head dry and my glasses clear, which is always a bonus. It’s a lot harder to keep your footing if your getting pelted in the eyes with rain.

Even when the temperatures drop I can combine this Columbia Watertight Jacket with a sweater and its Watertight shell gives me decent coverage down to about freezing. I am a bigger guy, so part of that might be some extra insulation on my part as well – but I’m way better off with this Jacket than I am without it.

Bad Gun Handling – Appropriate Gear

Not wearing the appropriate gear might just mean a trip to the emergency room when you leave the range.

Thirty years ago I was on a range at Fort Dix in New Jersey and saw a brass 5.56 casing get pulled off someone’s neck. The casing was hot enough that as it was stuck in the poor kids collar. When they pulled it off it was burnt to his skin. When it was pulled free it took skin and left a nasty bleeding burn mark behind.

Don’t end up being hurt because you didn’t wear the appropriate gear!

This is not appropriate clothing for the range.

Appropriate Gear = Safety First
Respect The Weapon

Why do I show these videos? Because I like to go to the range and every one of these videos gives the non shooting public a bad impression of the total shooting community.

Always follow the four basic rules of Gun Safety:

  1. Always keep firearms pointed in a safe direction.
  2. Treat all guns as though they are loaded.
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
  4. Always be sure of your target and what’s beyond it.

Looking Down The Barrel of a loaded weapon is a clear violation of Rule 1. Nothing could be worse from a safety perspective. This is how people die and their families are left with horrible questions. Was it an accident? Was there something we could have done to avoid the tragedy?
