Teen Wolf Season 3 – Episode 6

Episode  6 – Motel California

Summary:

If you haven’t already watched the first two seasons its time now. Season three is just kicking off. Go watch Season 1 & Season 2. They are well worth watching again.

The episode starts with an eerie scene of what we think was a werewolf hunter blowing his head off in a run down hotel in the 70’s.  2013_TW_E6_SuicideCut to the future, and the cross country team is pulling into the parking lot to spend the night. Styles, as always, makes me smile.2013_TW_E6_HotelEntry

Thankfully Derek is alive (for now) and with the hot school teacher.

Back at the scene of the ambush Mr. Argent is walking through the fight, trying to figure out what happened. He clearly knows that Allison was there, and that she is staying silent about it, but she’s not telling him.

Lydia and team rapidly figure out that the hotel is a suicide magnet, and that the counter has gone up. They realize the place is driving the wolves nuts and save Ethan. Werewolves going crazy.

After saving Ethan they save save Boyle by using a road flare. (Stiles figured out that they snapped Ethan out of it after he got burnt.) Two saves down, but when they go back out into the parking lot Scott is standing in a pool of gas, depressed, and ready to go up in a ball of flames. He feels so guilty that he thinks Derek is dead, but Derek is getting some action in the mean time. Come on Allison, kiss Scott, and make everything better. But no, Stiles saves him. It was quite touching.

Things I loved about this episode…

  • Allison in the shower. Although Scott is a little creepy about it.2013_TW_E6_Shower12013_TW_E6_Shower2

  • Creepy Motel lady. “We have the most guest suicides.”
  • Mrs. Blake telling Derek this is not how she imagined their first date. I really hope they end up together.
  • Gay werewolf sex scene. Where else can you get that? BOOYA!!!
  • Derek and Mrs. Blake getting it on.  Please become a badass werewolf wife!2013_TW_E6_DerekMrsBlake
  • Stiles – “Hey Isaac, I’ve got something for you.” Flare to the face.
  • Stiles – “Scott, your my brother.  If you’re going to do this, you’re going to have to take me with you.” It was very touching.

Things that I didn’t like about this episode…

  • What the hell is wrong with Scott? Wrecking a perfectly good shower scene with Allison.
  • Lydia hearing the suicides of the past in the room next door. Why is that poor girl always the target of mental illness?
  • New Rule in the suicide hotel, no one separates.
  • In real life, if Scott was standing in a pool of gas with a flare in his hand he would have been toast.  Gas evaporates and creates a flammable cloud around you.  Woosh.
  • My one criticism of this season is that the plot is a bit twisted. It turns out that the guy who killed himself in the 70’s was an Argent, and that the lead Alpha is the one who bit him, and that is why he ate a shotgun shell. Thus Mr. Argent has a reason to help Scott go after the Alpha’s.  Okay, but OMG, does everything have to be tied to tightly together?

Range Day

After getting my four cases of ammo from BulkAmmo.com I finally got out to the range.

I brought my 870 Remington Tactical out for the day.2013_RangeDay_Rem870_1

She’s been upgraded with a Remington Recoil Pad which takes this gun from “Painful and bruising,” after a few dozen slugs to “I can shoot all day.” I’ve got a few more customizations coming in the next few weeks. (Parts are here, just need to find time to do the work.)

I started at 120 feet with a single slug from a standing position. 2013_FederalSlugTactical

Overall, not bad.

The 870 is really a short to medium range weapon in the smooth bore configuration. So I’m quite happy with this accuracy at this range, and it was the first round cold.

Next I moved on to a three round “burst”, firing as quickly as I could.2013_June_Range_Day_3ShotsR
My first and last shots were close, buy my middle shot was further out to the left.

Next I moved on to the buckshot.2013_RioBuck9Pellet

I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the spread on these at 120 feet. Having said that, they were pretty much dirt cheap, and I plan an seeing how accurate they are at 45 feet next time I go to the range. My gut tells me they will be just fine at short distance, which combined with their price, makes them the perfect zombie shot.

At 120 feet the spread was so bad that only two out of nine of the shot hit the target. So I will stick with slugs for anything just a bit further out.

Overall, it was a good day at the range, and I capped off taking pictures with a three round “burst” of buck shot. I didn’t count the hits but in rapid fire mode I actually got a lot better hit to miss ratio than the first shot were only two out of the nine pellets found their mark inside the target.

While I’ve been able to find some brass around me recently its actually been harder to find 12 gauge slugs and buck in any quantity.

After a few discussions at the range and some quick online searches I turned to Bulkammo.com.

I purchased four cases of ammunition.

1 case Federal Low Recoil Rifled slugs:

1 case of Rio Royal Buck 00 Buck shot:

and finally, 2 cases of NobelSport – 1 1/8 ounce #7 1/2 shot:2013_BulkAmmo_NobleTarget

I live in Jersey, which has some old fashioned gun and ammunition laws, but buying from Bulkammo.com was quick and easy. I paid for my items, uploaded a scanned image of my firearms card, and it was done.

The one thing I added to my purchase was the “overbox” option, as they were going to be leaving some stuff on my porch. I was cheap, and it gave me the peace of mind knowing that anyone driving buy wouldn’t see four cases of ammo if they happened to pull up.

Within four days I had my ammo, no muss, no fuss.

Will definitely be buying from Bulkammo.com again.
