Folding Pocket Knife

I love my Kershaw Clash Pocket Knife for a bunch of reasons. The first is that it is well made, and perfect for just about any everyday task. The second is that at this price. I can actually use my Knife and not have to baby it for fear of breaking it. Who wants to use a knife that costs a couple hundred bucks to gut an animal or try to open a can of soup while out hunting?

The funny thing is that while I use my Pocket Knife hard I’ve yet to do more than scratch it up or ding the blade. When I do ding the blade I just get my file out and its good to go after a few minutes. I feel like if I had a more expensive blade I’d be way more careful with it and not get as much out of the Knife.

Like so many things in life – make sure this Pocket Knife is legal to carry, and how its legal to carry in your location. I live on the border of three states. In one of them I can carry it concealed because of its length. In the other two I can wear it but it has to be clearly visible at all times so it doesn’t become concealed. Bottom line, make sure you follow your local laws.

Folding Pocket Knife Scoring

This Pocket Knife can have a Low Impact on your survival and scores a 193/1000. This Knife is more of a utility tool for me. When it comes to survival, that is important. It is just that when it comes to self defense it loses points for the fact you have to open it, and the fact it has very short reach.

Camp Shovel

This Camp Shovel is an awesome tool. It is perfect for everything from working in the garden to strapping to your pack to head out into the boonies. Honestly, I keep one in all my vehicle as well. If anyone asks, I tell them its there to dig me out of sand and snow. That is true, but I’ve also used my Camp Shovel to dig cat holes so I could use the bathroom on the road and on the trail. This Camp Shovel is a utility tool that is a must have.

The other reason I like this Camp Shovel is that it is one piece and it is very well built. You can use this Shovel to dig and chop and it can take a serious amount of abuse and still be good to go after your arms are tired from swinging it. It is also a very serious self defense weapon. It has decent reach, is well built, and can be used as a blunt force or edged weapon depending on how you are holding it. If it is a fight for your life you can use it like an axe. If you just want to send a message you can hit them broadside and let the bruises help your enemies remember why messing with you is a bad idea.

The real reason I have this Cold Steel Camp Shovel in my vehicle? To beat in Zombie skulls if the biting starts while I’m out and about in my vehicle.

Brass Cane

This Brass Cane is perfect for me. It is sturdy, looks amazing. I need a Cane on and off due to back pain and a leg injury. This Cane let’s me get the support I need while also looking sophisticated. Concealment End Table

This Concealment End Table is the perfect way to keep self defense weapons close by but safely hidden. Yes, I am a bit of a survival nut. I like to have a layered plan that gives me a ton of redundancy. That means that I have furniture like this Concealment End Table close at hand so I can discretely keep whatever I need to survive where I’m most likely to be when the world blows up.

Best of all, if you have a cabin or bolt hole and it does get robbed, they are going to look for things like a gun safe, but if you keep your gear hidden, they are less likely to find it. I am also a very sneaky son of a beech. I cut a small square in the rug under one my end tables. If you do come in to rob me I have to open the floor safe so you can get some cash. Which puts me directly in front of this End Table and whatever surprises I have stored in it.

Stainless Steel Chain

This Stainless Steel Chain is chunky and heavy. That is awesome because if you need to pull it off your neck to defend yourself it packs a hit. Because it is a piece of jewelry there is even a chance it will not be noticed if you get taken captive. If that happens your odds of escaping go way up if you have a weapon and they don’t realize it.

Of course, not everyone can pull off this Stainless Steel Chain. That does limit its overall utility as an everyday carry item. But, if you can get away with it, you have a self defense weapon on you at all times. If you are older or just can’t fit this into your wardrobe you can always give it to someone else in your life. If you are around them a lot you can still have access to the Chain in an emergency. Just don’t tell your giftee’s why they are getting this heavy duty chain until after you have to use it to save their lives.

Money Clip Knife

I love my Money Clip Knife. It is one of those items I end up carrying everyday because I don’t go out without cash. When I first got it I thought I’d only ever user it in an emergency self defense situation but I found I ended up using it for lots of little tasks. I use it to open boxes and have also saved a dog with it. Years ago I was walking with my kids and we saw a dog who had tied to a fence. Only the dog had gotten himself so twisted up in the rope that he was now hanging and choking himself. Thankfully I had my Money Clip Knife and was able to cut him free.

Of course, make this Knife is legal where you live before you slip it in your pocket. If you are lucky enough to live in a state where you can use this to hold your money, you also get the benefit of having a small but useful knife in your hand – and most likely just when you are going to need it.

If your mugged, give them the cash, but if its clear that its a fight or die situation, the Fixed Blade Knife hidden in this Money Clip might just give you the edge you need.

One Handed Axe

This One Handed Axe is the perfect size and weight for portability. I can carry it cross country and it gives me a ton of extra capabilities. I can use it to cut branches to build a shelter or even fell trees if I really need to. The hickory handle feels just right in my hand. It is also a beautifully made tool. The 1055 Carbon Steel is strong, durable, and holds a wicked sharp edge. Swing this Axe hard and you will find the hickory handle flexes enough to absorb impacts while still being incredibly tough.

This One Handed Axe is both a survival tool, and self defense weapon. It is perfect for the trail and can be hidden in your vehicle by pairing it with some other tree trimming gear. When it comes to a disaster this Axe gives me lots of options. I can break windows to get into or out of vehicles. I can even cut through many doors or hammer their locks to oblivion.

In the worst case this Axe is also an amazing self defense weapon. Not many men, woman, or wild animals are going to take a hit and continue to want to fight.

One Handed Axe Scoring

This One Handed Axe can have a high impact on your survival and scores a 675/1000. It gains points for boing a one handed tool but loses a few for not having the best reach in the world. It also loses a few for being a bit harder to hide in plain site, and not quite having the utility of a full sized Axe like this Survival Axe.

Self Defense Siren

These Self Defense Sirens are a utility tool as far as I’m concerned. I have one for my wife’s keychain. If she gets in trouble she is pulling this and then her Pepper Spray. When it comes to non lethal self defense for people who don’t have other hand to hand combat skills, you can’t beat this combo.

These Sirens help you fight violence and unwanted attention, because when this goes off the people bothering you are going to run. If they don’t, that means you are in a very isolated location – and that you should fight for your life and don’t hold back. Still, these Sirens can still distract your attacker giving you an opening to run or attack. If you are in a populated area this Siren is going to draw attention your way which is a good thing.

The other reason I love these Sirens is their alarm capabilities. Easily create a alarm anywhere you need one. Put a cord on any gear you want to keep and if your bike, bag, or anything else is moved it is going to pull the alarm. This has saved my bag on the beach on two different occasions. I bury a cup of sand with a cord on it and attach it to my backpack. If anyone tries the casual snatch and walk away they are in for a surprise.

Throwing Tomahawks

These Throwing Tomahawks are a ton of fun. That means that training doesn’t feel like training. Combine these Tomahawks with a tree stump or two and you have a target range. Better yet, put a few along a trail and you can practice moving and throwing at the same time. Just make sure you don’t go so fast its not safe. As always, make sure there isn’t anything that can be damaged or harmed near or behind your targets!

These Tomahawks are tough. I’ve thrown mine a few hundred times apiece and they are going strong. If you manage to break one please tell me how.

The key to being good is practice, practice, practice, because it will be too late once things turn bad. These Tomahawks are perfect as they are not only quiet, but if you survive the encounter they can be reused indefinitely. They gain points for letting you defend yourself at range and close up. I liked to keep them in sets of three. The first one I throw, and the second two I save for hand to hand combat.

Throwing Tomahawks Scoring

These Throwing Tomahawks can have a high impact on your survival and score a 601/1000. They gain points for being ranged weapons, but lose a few points for being hard to conceal and keep close to you in daily life. These Tomahawks score more points for being reusable and really durable but lose a few points for being heavy if you want to keep more than a few of them on you at any given point.
