Folding Shovel

This Folding Shovel is a true multi tool. I keep one in my vehicle. It folds up takes no space but lets me dig out when I need to. I’ve used it to dig everything from ice, snow, mud, and sand out from around my tires. I keep the second one with my camping gear. I like to go off the beaten trail and that means digging a cat hole when I need to go the bathroom. To be honest, I’ve used this Shovel to dig cat holes while driving as well. There are long stretches of road without rest stops and when you have to go you have to go.

This Shovel is also perfect to dig a fire pit. Obviously when its time to leave this Shovel also lets me make sure my fire is safely out. All important details when hiking and camping in dry weather.

When there is snow on the ground this Shovel is also great at digging down to the ground. That’s important so your fire doesn’t put itself out as well as for survival. Snow is a great insulator and you are much better off being surrounded by it and out of the wind than laying on top of it.

Lasly, this Folding Shovel also makes an excellent weapon. If it comes to hand to hand combat this Shovel works well as a mace and a cutting weapon.

Snatch Block

This Snatch Block makes easy work of heavy loads. Why struggle when you can easily cut your work load in half or more depending on how many Blocks you have. This Snatch Block lets you move loads safely, a must have for off the grid survival. Keep a few Snatch Blocks in your vehicle and be ready for anything.

These are essentially next generation pulleys. The Block let’s the line loop back on itself. A simple explanation is that you have to pull twice as much line two feet to move your object one foot. The benefit is that the weight of the object is divided by the number of lines. At least if friction didn’t exist. Thankfully the benefits with friction are still huge. Just use line that is rated to over the max weight of whatever load you are putting on it.

The trail up to our families cabin is gravel and mud. It is always a roll of the dice if the way will be blocked after a storm. There are lots of trees and I like to let them grow over the road to make it harder to spot using drones. Thankfully these Snatch Blocks mean I can cut the trees into fairly big pieces and drag them out of the way. Without them I’d have to do a lot more cutting.
