Lever Opening Tool

Thanks to laws designed to make sure that the disabled can open doors in emergencies, all state and federal buildings have to use “lever” style door handles, which makes this Lever Opening Tool a must have survival tool. Quickly and quietly open doors in schools, hospitals, police barracks, all with a super light weight, easy to carry tool.

I’m sure you can see how that will make scavenging during the Apocalypses a lot easier!

This Tool is in my kit for two main reasons.

Firstly, if I need to go rescue someone from a building with safety doors this gives me a quick and quiet way to get inside. That means whomever is doing bad things isn’t going to know I’m coming. Or where I’m coming from. That will gave both tactical options as well the element of surprise. All good things on a rescue mission.

Secondly, the types of buildings that use these doors tend to hold supplies. In a post disaster world this Tool is going to give me quick and quiet access so I can scavenge without alerting anyone else around. Who wants other scavengers to come and try to liberate your supplies once you’ve done all the hard work?

Flex Cuffs

These Flex Cuffs are critical survival gear. People are dangerous. If I need to defend myself I don’t want to mess around once I have you subdued. These Cuffs mean I can restrain my assailant until help arrives. The best part is that these Flex Cuffs are light, easy to use, and easy to remove using my Multitool. Because they are light I easily carry a bunch of them with me – or on my Tactical Vest. They are rated up to 250lbs of restraining force. If you are built like Schwarzenegger I might use two sets on you! Just remember that before the Apocalypse, don’t use these unless you are defending your life or someone else’s.

In an end of the world disaster these Cuffs give me options. There are likely to be other survivors. They may not be as well supplied as I am. That makes me and mine a target. If I get the drop on them I might not want to kill them outright. These Cuffs give me the option to subdue them and get away before they can get them off.

The other scenario of course is other friendly survivors. How do I know if I can trust them? These Flex Cuffs give me the ability to safely restrain them until I can figure out the newcomers real intentions.

If the disaster happens to be a Zombie Apocalypse, these Cuffs make a great way to restrain injured people who you are afraid might turn. Use these Flex Cuffs to restrain them so you can shoot them without guilt after they turn. Don’t suffer from doubt and guilt because you felt the need to pop them before they became a bite risk. Secure them and wait until its clear they are a biter.

Shotgun Ammo Cartridge Pouch

This Shotgun Ammo Cartridge Pouch holds 16 20g or 12g shells. Any self defense I’m likely to be in is going to be close quarters. That makes me want a 1 oz slug and buckshot. When it comes to survival, personal protection, and Zombies, I am a Shotgun man. Very few things are going to take a slug or buckshot and keep moving, much less get back up. Because a Shotgun is my primary weapon I usually attach three of these Shotgun Ammo Cartridge Pouches to my Tactical Vest. This gives me an additional 48 shot shells of stopping power. Sure, it can add a bit of weight, but it’s worth the extra strain on my legs for the firepower it gives me.

The other reason a Shotgun is my preferred weapon is that it gives me lots of capabilities in a single platform. I can throw some birdshot in to hunt fowl or even incendiary rounds if I want the option of reeking some havoc.

Whether its hunting or self defense, my Shotgun gives me tons of options. A critical part of that flexibility is being able to carry whatever Shotshells I want in these Shotgun Ammo Cartridge Pouches.

Because I’m a 12g user I’m going to suggest starting small. If you are small, get a .410. Once you master that, move up to 20g. If you can handle that you can move on to 12g.

Then start shooting clays. It is an awesome sport and it keeps your shotgun skills strong!

Survival Whistle

These Survival Whistles are a must have for every member of your group. They are hands down the most cost effective and easy to use survival tool. I don’t go camping, hiking, or hunting without having a Survival Whistle on me. They are lightweight, and provide an excellent insurance policy if I get lost or incapacitated and need to let searchers know where I am. If I’m with my buddies and I get turned about in the woods, we all know that two short blasts means to reply in kind. It allows both parties to figure out what direction to move in.

Pre disaster these Whistles are a must have for outside activities. They are such an easy and simple insurance policy it doesn’t make sense not to have one for everyone. I keep a spare with my medical kit as well.

Post Apocalypse, these Whistles are perfect to give to survivors as an emergency communication mechanism.

If its a Zombie Apocalypse and you are cornered, climb a tree, got up as high as you can, and blow the whistle every few minutes. It will attract even more Zombies, but that is the price to pay for letting me know where you are. I’ll take care of the Zombies when I get there.

Hidden Compartment Shelf

These Hidden Compartment Shelves are awesome. They look nice, which means you can put them up without complaint from your significant other. Better yet, put them up while they are at work. They don’t even have to know what your storing inside them. My wife always thinks I’m over zealous when it comes to security. Biometric Locking Gun Safe

I love this Biometric Locking Gun Safe. I like to keep a firearm close to my home desk, but I also don’t like leaving firearms anywhere an untrained user might happen on them, which makes this Gun Safe the perfect solution to my problem. All my children are adults. I don’t have grandkids yet but we do have friends with children. My siblings have been kind enough to give me a horde of nieces and nephews though. I don’t take any risk with my firearms. All of them are locked up at all times. The good news is that doesn’t mean I can’t get to them when and where I might need them.

I can mount this Locking Gun Safe wherever I want. The Biometric Lock means that even though my firearm is locked up I can get to it quickly. I won’t have to worry about punching a key code if there is an emergency. I can press my finger to the sensor and get access to my weapon in a heartbeat.

Tire Foam Diversion Safe

This Tire Foam Diversion Safe is the perfect addition to every vehicle. I suggest putting it in a tool bag in your vehicle with a regular can of Tire Foam. Construction/Framing Nails

Construction/Framing Nails are like stocking up on bread and milk before a snow storm. You can never have too many boxes of Framing Nails on hand. It means being able to do emergency home repairs, or more importantly, board up windows and doors when you are about to get hit by a natural, or unnatural, disaster.

I live on low ground. We’ve had one really bad flood after hurricane Sandy in 2012 and we were asked to leave our homes. We were lucky that the water came right up to our front door then stopped. I saw what happened in other parts of the country after similar events. Looters and horrible amounts of damage. If I’m running from my house because of a storm you better believe I’m boarding up every door and window. Want to loot my house? You are going to need to work for it.

If the next disaster is the big one – these Construction/Framing Nails are going to let me secure my home as well as create nail strips. Chicken Wire

Oh sweet, Chicken Wire, how many ways can I use you to solve problems? I’ve used this Wire Mesh to close off the bottom of my privacy fence to make sure my dogs can’t squeeze out of low points. I’ve also used it at my brother’s house to secure his eves from evil squirrels who wanted to live in his attic rent free. Another buddy of mine lives in a not so great part of town but thanks to this Wire Mesh and punched bar stock we made something that even crackheads couldn’t get through. Every first floor window was covered and to this day he hasn’t had a successful break in.

Lumber Storage Rack

I use this Lumber Storage Rack to keep all the wood in my garage organized. It is perfect to store and organize everything you have lying about. It not only cleans up your garage, but quite honestly can save you money if you are like me. In the past I would buy stock just because it was easier than searching through my shed for a piece of wood I might have. Now I keep everything organized on this Storage Rack and while I do keep some things like 2x4s ready to go even if I don’t “need” them, this Storage Rack has saved me from buying stock I already have.

Pre disaster I love how organized this Storage Rack keeps things. It makes projects easier and less frustrating. It also means if I do need to hit the lumber yard I can grab other things I might need by looking at where the gaps are in my Rack.

Post, or during a disaster I know where the lumber I need is to board up my windows and secure more doors. That makes this Storage Rack worth every penny I spent on it.
