Lever Opening Tool

Thanks to laws designed to make sure that the disabled can open doors in emergencies, all state and federal buildings have to use “lever” style door handles, which makes this Lever Opening Tool a must have survival tool. Quickly and quietly open doors in schools, hospitals, police barracks, all with a super light weight, easy to carry tool.

I’m sure you can see how that will make scavenging during the Apocalypses a lot easier!

This Tool is in my kit for two main reasons.

Firstly, if I need to go rescue someone from a building with safety doors this gives me a quick and quiet way to get inside. That means whomever is doing bad things isn’t going to know I’m coming. Or where I’m coming from. That will gave both tactical options as well the element of surprise. All good things on a rescue mission.

Secondly, the types of buildings that use these doors tend to hold supplies. In a post disaster world this Tool is going to give me quick and quiet access so I can scavenge without alerting anyone else around. Who wants other scavengers to come and try to liberate your supplies once you’ve done all the hard work?

Tool Roll

I like this Tool Roll for three main reasons. The first is that this just looks cool. Whenever I need to fix something and pull this out, there is a very satisfying feeling when rolling it open. The second is that it keeps my tools quiet. I like to use this Tool Roll in my vehicle. Compared to a tool box that lets items rattle around inside, this is basically silent. the perfect gift for anyone who likes to tinker or work on projects and there is something that is just very cool about rolling out the tools of your craft.

The third reason I like this Roll is that I can easily put together a few different kits with different thing in them. That makes it easy to grab what I need. I have one Roll that has the tools I need to do basic electric work, and another that has everything I need for plumbing and mechanical work.

Pocket Window Punch

I have three of these Pocket Window Punches. Why? Because they are a key survival tool to get through safety glass. One of them is clipped to my Tactical Vest. Obviously if I need to get into or out of a vehicle, this Window Punch makes the job quick and easy. Just push the device against the window until the sprint pops and the window shatters. That makes vehicle rescues, when every moment counts, much faster.

I keep another Window Punch in my vehicle for emergency use. If I need to save a kid or a dog inside a hot car, I’m ready.

Post disaster the roads are going to be full of cars that are bogged down and can’t go anywhere. Those vehicles are a great source for scavenging gear after the die off. This Window Punch means I can do that scavenging quickly and with minimal noise. That is important when you don’t know who or what might be listening.

Be ready, be prepared, and if you survive the Apocalypse maybe we can have a drink after we bump into each other on the road.

Sewing Kit

This Sewing Kit is perfect for all those little repairs that happen at the worst times. When it comes to surviving after a major disaster, it is not having gear like this Kit that can wreck your day. Small tears in gear become big tears that makes the gear useless. I keep a Kit with my Camping Gear and another at my Bolt Hole.

The time will come when you can’t just order another pear of socks or pants, so be prepared to survive by making sure you have some Sewing skills and this Sewing Kit so you can repair tears and rips in clothing and gear.

Torch Lighter

This Torch Lighter is perfect to do everything from light a cigar, to a cigarette, to a camp fire. Best of all, because it is small and stylish, you can take it anywhere. That makes it an excellent bit of Everyday Carry Gear. I use mine to light my pipe. It takes about a half second to get the bowl going with this Lighter. It is also a nice way to offer a light when someone requests one.

When it comes to Camping Gear I prefer a Ferro Rod. A Ferro Rod lasts way longer then the fuel in this Lighter. But this Lighter has a different use for me. There are times when setting a fire quickly is a matter of survival. If you need to set a signal fire, the speed and ease of this Lighter makes it worth burning the fuel.

Post disaster I can think of several scenarios where a Lighter is preferrable over a Ferro Rod. If I need to create a flaming vehicle barricade behind me to flee, I don’t want to screw around with a Ferro Rod. I just want to pull the activator, set the fire, and run.

Folding Pocket Knife

I love my Kershaw Clash Pocket Knife for a bunch of reasons. The first is that it is well made, and perfect for just about any everyday task. The second is that at this price. I can actually use my Knife and not have to baby it for fear of breaking it. Who wants to use a knife that costs a couple hundred bucks to gut an animal or try to open a can of soup while out hunting?

The funny thing is that while I use my Pocket Knife hard I’ve yet to do more than scratch it up or ding the blade. When I do ding the blade I just get my file out and its good to go after a few minutes. I feel like if I had a more expensive blade I’d be way more careful with it and not get as much out of the Knife.

Like so many things in life – make sure this Pocket Knife is legal to carry, and how its legal to carry in your location. I live on the border of three states. In one of them I can carry it concealed because of its length. In the other two I can wear it but it has to be clearly visible at all times so it doesn’t become concealed. Bottom line, make sure you follow your local laws.

Folding Pocket Knife Scoring

This Pocket Knife can have a Low Impact on your survival and scores a 193/1000. This Knife is more of a utility tool for me. When it comes to survival, that is important. It is just that when it comes to self defense it loses points for the fact you have to open it, and the fact it has very short reach.

Portable Female Urinal

This Portable Female Urinal is the perfect gift for every female on every camping and road trip. If you are a female, or travel with one on a routine basis, this Female Urinal should be in your glove box and another should be in your backpack. It makes those quick pee stops so much easier, less messy, and drama free. My wife just refuses to squat in the weeds. Anywhere. That makes taking even a day hike problematic with her. Thankfully this Female Urinal has solved all our issues. She doesn’t mind actually peeing outside, she just had a bad experience with a tick once that has clearly scarred her.

When it comes to road trips I try to stick to a schedule. The more people you have in your vehicle, the harder it is to control bathroom breaks. These Female Urinals give me a huge advantage. If I have to stop it makes this quick and easy. But the goal is to just have people move to the back of the vehicle, do their business, and get back into their seats without affecting the schedule.

This Female Urinal also means that females don’t have to put themselves into a vulnerable position while peeing. They can stay upright and scan the woods as they pee – because who wants to get picked off by scavengers or the undead because they stayed hydrated?

Heavy Duty Button Master

This Heavy Duty Button Master has easily paid for itself many times over. My kids, my wife and now all my friends call me when they lock their keys in their vehicles. I may accidentally helped someone steal a care once too. Or at least break into it. I keep my Button Master in my vehicle and I helped a young woman get into her car at the shopping center. The only problem was that after I opened her door she couldn’t find her keys inside. She walked away when I started asking questions and I locked the car door and shut it again. At least she didn’t get to take anything because I was standing there and wouldn’t leave.

This Button Master it may seem like an odd bit of Survival Gear but after a disaster takes out the populace this tool gives me lots of scavenging options. In the short term if people are dead in their cars, the cars are still good to go. But how are you going to get into them quietly and without breaking windows? If I have to drive for a while I like having windows on my vehicles. Or if there is something that might be trying to kill me on prowling about.

Ferro Rod Fire Starter

This Ferro Rod Fire Starter is a must have for your kit. Matches can be ruined in the rain or not stay lit long enough to start a fire in the wind. Fire is primal and its honestly just about as important as water to long term survival. Without fire you can’t cook, boil water to make it safe, or warm yourself after a day out in the cold. Thankfully this Ferro Rod Fire Starter is a safe and easy way to make sure you always have the tools needed to start a Fire regardless of the weather.

My personal experience is that this Ferro Rod is all around better than matches and lighters. When you get a good spark off the Rod it is super hot. This Rod can create a spark that is 3,000 °F to 6,000 °F. Compare that with a match flame which is 600 °F to 800 °F. You see how having this Ferro Rod in wet and windy weather is better than matches.

When it comes to durability, you’d have to have 15,000 matches to be able to start the same number of fires as this Ferro Rod. If you want something that is water poof and can last a long time you can’t go wrong with this Ferro Rod.

This Camp Shovel is an awesome tool. It is perfect for everything from working in the garden to strapping to your pack to head out into the boonies. Honestly, I keep one in all my vehicle as well. If anyone asks, I tell them its there to dig me out of sand and snow. That is true, but I’ve also used my Camp Shovel to dig cat holes so I could use the bathroom on the road and on the trail. This Camp Shovel is a utility tool that is a must have.

The other reason I like this Camp Shovel is that it is one piece and it is very well built. You can use this Shovel to dig and chop and it can take a serious amount of abuse and still be good to go after your arms are tired from swinging it. It is also a very serious self defense weapon. It has decent reach, is well built, and can be used as a blunt force or edged weapon depending on how you are holding it. If it is a fight for your life you can use it like an axe. If you just want to send a message you can hit them broadside and let the bruises help your enemies remember why messing with you is a bad idea.

The real reason I have this Cold Steel Camp Shovel in my vehicle? To beat in Zombie skulls if the biting starts while I’m out and about in my vehicle.
