iZombie , Season 2, Episode 16

Pour Some Sugar, Zombie opens with Ravi, Major, Peyton and Liv day dreaming about being next door neighbors. At least until the victim gives Peyton a call and gets murdered while on the phone. Time for Liv to eat some stripper brains to help Peyton. Unfortunately, Peyton doesn’t really understand how the whole zombie vision thing works.

Brains Lettuce and Tomato

Liv on sassy stripper brain is something to behold. Peyton being underwhelmed by stripper Liv was priceless.

Pour Some Sugar, Zombie Scoring

Pour Some Sugar, Zombie scores a 82/100, making it Worth Your Time. Liv does sassy stripper really well. Probably too well. She is either an amazing actress (which she clearly is) or maybe she’s been in a few strip clubs as well. More power to her!

Spoilers Below

Peyton, now in the know about Liv, wants help to close her case. Liv wasn’t into eating stripper brains, but she does it for Peyton. What a good friend. Liv on stripper brains is to the point, sassy, and dirty in all the good ways.

Meanwhile Ravi is putting together details that Major doesn’t want him to. The chaos killer is in the news big time, and Ravi recognizes Minor, the basset hound that Major took from one of the victims. Ravi follows the crumbs until he finds Major’s gear. What is major going to tell him an injection gun full of horse sedatives is for?

Blain is struggling with memory loss after taking the Zombie cure. He doesn’t remember being a zombie or anything that he’s done.

The murder investigation ends with Liv and Clive confronting Destiny, the stripper. She killed our victim because she was afraid her victim was going to send her man to jail.

Liv is still searching for Drake, and goes to his mothers house to try and find him. Liv finds out that her man wasn’t such a bad guy after all. He was working under cover.

The episode ends with Ravi confronting Major and ends on a cliff hanger as Ravi uses Major’s own kit against him. Major passes out as Ravi stands behind him, the syringe gun in his hand.

He Blinded Me With Science opens with Ravi examining a burnt body. It is a woman. Ravi calls her Cinder-Ella. I laughed. I’m going to hell! Ravi’s not getting much off the body though. He hopes that Liv can get more from the brain.

Brain Stew

With some nice warm brains in her belly, Liv heads out with Clive to solve the murder. The good news is that these brains are the super smart kind. Liv is going to be very intellectual this episode!

He Blinded Me… With Science Scoring

He Blinded Me With Science scores 81/100, making it Worth Your Time. The episode makes a strong comeback after falling a bit in Eternal Sunshine of the Caffeinated Mind.

Spoilers Below

He Blinded Me With Science had several great scenes. Watching Major find out Gilda is actually Vaughn Du Clark’s daughter. After accusing Du Clark of telling Gilda to seduce him. Not what a father wants to hear.

We also get to see Liv in human mode. It is so weird to see her with normal skin tones!

So what cost this episode some points? I didn’t like that Liv thought she was going to not get caught going to Max Rager. She looks different, but not that different.

Eternal Sunshine of the Caffeinated Mind begins with some bad news. The Tainted Utopium in the stomachs of the bodies was destroyed by stomach acid. The good news, the drugs hidden in one of the corpes had the drugs in his, and I quote, “prison wallet”. Ravi has a way with words.

Dug U Fresh
Dug U Fresh

Ravi is in a coffee shop when our murder happens. A happy and bubbly coffee shop owner who goes out to the sidewalk to get killed by a falling window air conditioner unit. Liv makes some Brain Breakfast Treats. Ravi, understandably doesn’t want any.

Brain Breakfast Treats

The victim’s brains are happy and bubbly. Liv is living high on positivity as her and Major start to track down the air conditioner killer.

Eternal Sunshine of the Caffeinated Mind Scoring

Eternal Sunshine of the Caffeinated Mind tells the tale of two rival lovers turned coffee shop competitors. Stan, played by the amazing Oscar Nuñez of The Office (US Version) fame, was our victims lover, and coffee competition.

This episode scores a 69/100, making it a perfect episode for a Rainy Day. Why? While Liv plays happy and bubbly amazingly, its not quite as compelling as what happens when she’s on more troublesome brains.

iZombie , Season 2, Episode 11

Fifty Shades of Grey Matter starts with a librarian kicking a young man out of the library. According to the older librarian she’s kicking him out because he likes to watch snuff films on the library computers. Good reason to kick him out.

If Books Could Kill
If Books Could Kill

This introduces us to the episodes victim. A mousy blonde librarian isn’t feeling so hot. Before she can go home sick though she ends up coughing up some blood and dying suddenly.

Once in the medical examiners office Liv makes herself a snack. I’m not sure what to call it.

Librarian Brains

One of my favorite parts of the episode is when we hear Kristin Bell’s voice. It made me smile. I am assuming that Kristin is a fan of the show. Unfortunately for Liv, she is now on erotic author, librarian brains. Her victim loved to write erotica, and was sadly a victim of a marriage that wasn’t able to satisfy her own erotic needs. Let’s just say that Liv is on some brains that make her desperate for a specific type of attention.

While Liv is dealing with urges she struggles to contain, Major is dealing with his own troubles. His activities as a Zombie Assassin are threatening to catch up to him.

Fifty Shades of Grey Matter Scoring

Fifty Shades of Grey Matter was one of those great episodes. Liv, played by Rose McIver, is an amazing actress. She plays each “brain” so well. She also does naughty and sultry really well. Which is why this episode is scoring an 85/100, making this episode Worth Your Time.

Method Head opens with Ravi dropping some bad news. The Zombie Cure doesn’t last! They have no idea how long Major has before he reverts back to a brain hungry self hating Zombie. Major, played by Robert Buckley is such a genuine person. Sure, he is forced to do some bad things – but he is also the guy you’d be happy to see pick up your daughter. Which makes the turmoil between Liv and Major so hard to watch.

We are then introduced to our first victim. Someone killed Santa!

Homicide For The Holidays

The first murder was a red herring. The second murder is on the set of Zombie High, which just happens to be one of Liv’s favorite shows. Nothing like yummy Actor Brains for lunch!

Actor Brains for Lunch

Method Head Scoring

Method Head scores 75/100, making it Worth Your Time. This was another solid episode for the iZombie team. Major plays it smart against Vaughn Du Clark while Liv tries to win back Clive’s trust. There were some chuckles and as always, fun watching Liv try to deal with her victims brains and how they impact her.

If you aren’t already watching iZombie, I was absolutely put it on your list!

The Hurt Stalker opens with Liv sneaking back into her apartment after spending the night with Major. She doesn’t get far before Gilda spots her. Of course Gidla has also been with Major! Gilda doesn’t play nice either. She puts the thought in the back of Liv’s head that getting back together with an ex never works.

Shamble Of Shame

Shamble Of Shame

We then get an introduction to our victim. A woman is under attack and fights back. Just when she has the upper hand someone shoots her in the back. When Clive arrives things get complicated. He knows the deceased. The gun found at the scene is also his. It looks like Clive might be in trouble.

Back in Vaughn Du Clark’s office his daughter Gilda is not happy that Major and Liv are getting back together. Gilda tries to get her father angry but fails. He doesn’t seem to care that their Zombie Hunter is in a relationship with Liv, a known Zombie. We then get taken down into the basement where the Max Rager evil scientists have created a super serum. Because super fast and strong Zombies sounds like a good plan right?

On the murder front, things are getting worse. The victim has an angry message from Clive on her phone. The detective who took over is already convinced that Clive is guilty.

We then get to see Liv make Brains on a Log, complete with peanut butter.

Brain, Peanut Butter, Celery Log

Right after Liv chows down we find out that the deceased was a stalker. The deceased was crazy over our hot detective. Now Liv has crazy stalker brains on board, poor Major.

Clive isn’t having such a good day either. He has been suspended, and then has to deal with Ravi as he explains what a Badge Bunny is.

Liv and Ravi track down a woman owns a dry cleaning company who’s wedding was ruined by the dead victim. While talking to the dry cleaner’s husband Liv get’s a vision. The dry cleaner’s husband has been a bad boy.

Back at home Liv shares that she found “Rita’s” desperate texts with Gilda. Gilda is not happy to hear that Major said Rita threw herself at him. Gilda encourages Liv to get even with Major, maybe hoping she will eat him? Or at least his brains.

Out on the trail, Liv ends up in Chief Walt Price’s car. Apparently our victim also had a relationship with the Chief. The Chief will do just about anything to try and keep the news from getting out. Unfortunately for Liv, she is caught, and end up in jail.

Dead Woman Walking

Dead Woman Walking

Back at Max Rager, Vaughn Du Clark is taking his own strength serum, and while it does make him strong, it also makes him angry. Just the thing to give to your Zombie Hunter.

The Hurt Stalker ends with Liv and Ravi busting the dry cleaner and her brother, putting Clive in the clear. The episode ends with Liv fighting the stalker brain, even as Major’s phone rings with a message from Rita. Liv tries to fight it, but she can’t, and Rita sends a scantily clad picture to Major, bringing tears to Liv’s eyes.

The Hurt Stalker Scoring

The Hurt Stalker scores a 90/100. It got extra points for the hilarious innuendo and the jealous Gilda and Liv interactions. Liv was on crazy stalker brains, but Gilda might as well have been as well.

iZombie , Season 2, Episode 7

Abra Cadaver opens with Major’s dog on the floor, listening as Liv and Major, well, kind of go at it.

Heavy Petting

This leads to Liv asking if Major is really okay. They can’t have sex because of the Zombie Virus. Clearly they can do other things. They don’t show it. So use your imagination. Whatever it was, it was vigorous. Whatever they did do, it doesn’t relieve Liv’s anxiety about their relationship. She asks Major if he’s really okay with the limitations on their physical relationship first. Secondly, she asks if the way she eats and changes with eat meal matters.

The Victim

We then cut to a hotel. We have a victim. Syd Wicked was murdered with a playing card. Prestofest is in town, meaning the hotel is full of magicians and entertainers.

Syd’s brains get turned into some type of bacon and brains treat.

Tasty Brains

Back at Ravi’s house he’s sharing his relationship woes with Peyton who isn’t that sympathetic. Everyone has their personal issues. Ravi feels like his new girlfriend is moving too fast. Major and Peyton are both a little freaked out by Liv being a Zombie still. For Peyton that makes sense. For Major, it seems like a reversal as him and Liv just had some bedtime talk about the very same.

Back on the investigation front, we find out that Syd was not a well liked magician. His fellow magicians hated that he would give up their secrets. His death isn’t being being mourned. It’s cause for celebration.

Unfortunately for Ravi’s girl, she’s moving too fast for Ravi. When he comes back the living room she’s in full British get up. Dressed as a sexy Bobby. Any other guy might be happy but Ravi doesn’t look so happy about it. Ravi does however sleep with her and wait until the morning to tell her they can’t see each other anymore. As she puts it, “real classy”.

Going Full English

The Hunt For The Hunter

While all this is going on, Liv is helping Blaine find whoever is killing the Zombies. They think Agent Bozzio might know something about it and stake her out. All they see is Clive coming over for a lovely evening though. The next morning they break itno Agent Bozzio’s house. Unfortunately for them, they don’t find any information they don’t already have. They do however find a result coming from the FBI lab. The brains in Lieutenant Suzuki’s fridge were human. This forces Liv to falsify them to throw the FBI off the trail.

Peyton ends up at Blaine’s to share that Mr. Boss visited her. They bond over how scary Mr. Boss is. Blaine gives Peyton his number, and she takes it, just in case she gets “scared” again.

Meanwhile Liv has solved the crime, which had a nice little twist. I won’t lay out out as I don’t want to spoil it.

Ravi then misunderstands Peyton when they decide to watch a movie. He thinks Peyton wants a kiss. Peyton shoots him down when he goes for it though.

Abra Cadaver ends with Major slipping out after finding Liv high on Syd’s death obsessed brains. It is too much for him. He’s not able to handle this bit of brains induced mania.

Abra Cadaver Scoring

I’m giving Abra Cadaver an 85/100 as this was a great episode that is Worth Your Time. The twist was well done and the story was compelling.

Max Wager opens with Major being in a very good mood. The reason is pretty obvious when Liv follows him in. Liv is wearing a long button down that barely covers her ass…ets.

Omelette You Finish

We then cut over to Detective Babineaux as he leaves court, his convict gloating in a plea deal that got him into a minimum security unit. The gloating doesn’t last long however, as someone shows up to take care of business.

Witness To A Witness Murder

Back in the lab, Ravi is questioning Liv as they pick bullets out of the victim. He’s alarmed that if Major and Liv have sex, she might give him Zombism. Luckily for Liv, Ravi cares enough to make her promise not to do just assume condoms will protect Major until he does some tests.

With Clive wanting Liv’s “Psychic” help, she goes to town by making some victim clam treats.

Victim Clam Surprise

Out on the beat, Clive is chatting with his FBI girlfriend when Liv and Major walk up. Liv’s new brain has her betting on little things while Major learns why the FBI agent, Dale Bozzio, is there. The news doesn’t make him feel any better. Agent Bozzio is there to investigate the missing people. The very same missing people that Major abducted and murdered because they were on the Max Rager Zombie hit list.

While Blaine is getting his business taken over by his Zombie Dad, Liv is losing every bet she makes, which triggers a memory of the victim losing big bucks to his bookie, which brings the bookie into focus.

This leads Liv to Stacy Boss, who just happens to also be the target of Peyton’s investigation, which bring her face to face with her target, who just happens to be in her office, and willing to threaten her.

Back at the police station Clive, Liv and Agent Bozzio discover what the victim had hiding in his turtle tank. This leads Liv and Clive (eventually) back to the basketball star, who killed his friend for fear he’d leak their college cheating scam from years gone by.

While Liv and Major are getting hot and heavy, Ravi is discovering that the Zombie Virus passes through latex, making Liv and Major’s passionate plans potentially fatal. Ravi gets to the house just in time to ruin Liv’s plans.

Max Wager ends with Major taking care of Blaine’s problems by kidnapping Blaine’s Zombie Dad.

I’m going to give Max Wager a 75/100. It was a solid episode with some laughs and decent twists, making it Worth Your Time.

Love & Backetball: Make Out The Zombie
Make Out The Zombie

Major wakes up on the couch, still human. He makes it clear to Liv that he wants more butshe tells him they have to settle for being friends. She won’t risk him being a Zombie, and she won’t date him until there is a cure.

Our victim for this episode if Mike, a security guard. We see Mike get shot after he turns off the cameras that might have recorded his murder. Once in the morgue, Liv makes a nice omelet out of the security guards brains, yum…

Brains Omelet

We then learn that zombies who aren’t fed deteriorate into something horrifying, and the researchers at Max Rager want a fresh sample of Zombie blood to figure out what is going on.

Mike was a basketball coach, and he clearly loved basketball, because Liv is not an expert on B-ball. We then find out that one of Mike’s kids father’s is abusive and violent. Clive, bless his heart, goes back later that night to make sure the abusive father knows he better not touch his kid again, and then beats his face down nicely.

Liv then plays coach match maker before dropping the bomb on Rita Du Clark that she was recently kissing major. This gives Rita the opportunity to stab Liv with a skewer and get that sample of Zombie blood she was looking for.

Rita is also pushing Major to continue to do his job but when he goes to meet his next target his doubts continue to grow when his business man target’s family, including his young son run to him for hugs.

With another body found, Clive and Liv are led to an expensive attorney’s office where they find the baseball bat he likely used to kill the 2nd victim, as well as blood on the blinds. Live and Clive have found their man.

Major then goes back to Max Rager and tells Rita that none of the people on her list are Zombies. She doesn’t believe him, but for the moment all she can is tell him the odds are low.

Major tells Rita they can’t continue to do whatever they were doing, and later in the evening tells Liv that he doesn’t care if she’s a Zombie, he wants to be with her.

Love & Backetball ends with Lieutenant Suzuki’s widow coming to Clive and bringing him a plastic container that has a chunk of blains in it. Why would his old boss have had brains in his beer fridge?

Love & Basketball Scoring

Love & Backetball scored an 81/100. It was fast paced and had lots of twists and turns and is Worth Your Time.

At least until a car pulls up and throws a gun out the window. Boys being boys, what are they to do but play with a very dangerous weapon? They throw a bottle in the air and try to shoot it.

Weapon Of Glass Destruction

We then get to see Peyton at Dance Class with Liv. The two of them make up, trying to put the past behind them. We then jump over to Major’s hotel room where he and the Red Headed Assistant are in bed together.

Clive and Team then catch a body. A woman has been found in a bungalow. Liv decides that Brain Fritters are the perfect way to eat her lunch.

Brain Fritters

As soon as Liv eats the brains, the deceased starts to take effect. The victim was very into country.

Clive and Liv focus on the dead woman’s ex boyfriend who just got out of jail. He tells the detectives that they should may visit his ex best friend who was also banging the deceased.

Liv’s first vision comes shortly after. She sees the bar manager, trying to get her to exchange sex for an advance on her paycheck. Clive now has a new top suspect.

Meanwhile on the Blaine front, he’s tracked down the dealer who cut the original Utopium that created Zombies – because Blaine wants to make more.

The bar manager has decided to spin his own tail, but Liv knows details that no one should. This leads the bar owner’s pregnant fiancé to take back her alibi claim. She was lying to protect the man she thought was being faithful to her.

Cheaters Always Get Caught

Clive thinks he might have his killer, but the pregnant fiancé is just out for revenge.

While Clive is refocusing on the original ex boyfriend Liv is letting her meal take her onto stage at the country music bar. With country music singer/waitress flowing through her, Liv decides she needs to go talk to Major and tell him that while she knows it can never be, she will always love him. Major basically shuts the door in her face, which should let her know that he agrees. Instead she crashes through the door and Major tells her again that he just wants space, for like the 100th time.

Back in Blaine’s basement he still can’t get the Zombie Utopium recipe from the dealer, and falls back on making him into a Zombie in the hopes that being a Zombie will make him talk.

We then switch over to Peyton, who has been striking out on her search to go after the Utopium dealer Mr. Boss. At least until Blaine comes in and gives her the breakdown of how Mr. Boss moves the drugs. Of course Blaine turns on all his charm, and Peyton is smitten.

Sadly, Major is struggling with his reality, using Utopium to suppress the guilt of being Vaughn Du Clark’s Zombie hitman.

The episode’s conclusion comes down to bad luck. Our victim was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Even Cowgirls Get the Black and Blues ends with Major showing up at Liv’s door, asking for help. When in need, we always go back to the people who truly love us.

Even Cowgirls Get the Black and Blues Scoring

Even Cowgirls Get the Black and Blues scored a 70/100. This might have had an emotionally satisfying ending, but there wasn’t a lot of action or a huge twist on who did the killing, costing it some points.
