I’d never hear of The Girl With All The Gifts when by brother brought it over for us to watch. It turned out to be one of those gems that you somehow missed when it was in the theaters, and your not sure how it slipped by.
Sennia Nanua plays the young female lead, and her performance as Melanie is amazing. Sennia plays Melanie perfectly, and the connection between her and Gemma Arterton, who plays Helen Justineau is what makes this movie the beautiful thing that it is. Please keep in mind that Gen Close plays one of the leads, and yet Sennia steals every scene she is in, regardless of who is on screen with her.
The Girl With All The Gifts takes a new spin on the zombie genre, and does it in a way that is unique and riveting, while also giving us some great movie moments.
In one of my favorites Melanie tells one of the soldiers to pretend to be scared, which he doesn’t really need to do at that moment in time.
Overall, The Girl With All The Gifts earned its 95/100 score, and the only thing that cost it five points was the fact that they didn’t leave a lot of room open for a sequel.
