My youngest son loved the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” movies, and if your like me and watched them a thousand times, Devon Bostick, who plays Rodrick in the series, is going to look very familiar. In Dead Before Down, Devon plays Casper, the main character. You will also recognize Christopher Lloyd from Back to the Future, who plays Casper’s grandfather.
Dead Before Down begins with Casper remembering his father, who came to a mysterious death after dropping an urn in his grandfather’s occult shop.
If your trying to get someone to enjoy Zombie Movies, but they aren’t a horror fan, this movie might be a good intro. It is silly, but I’m not sure it was meant be silly. The main characters call the turned “Zeamons” for Zombie + Demon.
I personally hated it. I found it really annoying.
So what put Dead Before Down at the lower end of the Rainy Day Movie category? I honestly couldn’t tell if the movie was meant to be tongue in cheek or not. Was I supposed to be laughing at it or with it? It’s not a good sign when your honestly not sure.
The acting was decent, the special effects were okay. Dead Before Down was just didn’t strike the right tone consistently, which is why it scored a 39/100, so save it for a Rainy Day.
