The Last Hope was originally released in 2017, but for some reason Amazon lists it as released in 2020? Is that when they purchased the rights or released it maybe?
Sadly, the The Last Hope could have been so much more than it was. There are some really wonderful Zombie hordes and fight scenes, but the story and dialogue are so all over the place that it is hard to follow.
Whoever made this movie also has a very poor outlook on men. There is a very strong rapey vibe at multiple points, which makes me worry for the writer/director. That came from somewhere, and it’s likely not for a good reason.
There is a lot of shaky camera work, and at times the audio seems muddled. The close in physical effects were all good (lots of blood) but the CGI gunshots were laughable at times.
Overall the attempt at a deeper story hurt The Last Hope a lot, it would have been so much more if it just stuck to a simple “Zombie Survival” theme and didn’t try to get a little deeper.
The Last Hope scored a 24/100, putting it in Just Bad territory. If your drunk and don’t want to follow the plot, a few of the fight scenes are worth watching however.
