ZOMBIE MOVIES – Dawn of the Dead (1978)

I was a little kid the first time I watched Dawn of the Dead. My older brother thought it would “toughen me up” as he puts it. Yes, he’s got that old school way of thinking when it comes to kids.

Back when I couldn’t really appreciate how well done Dawn of the Dead was, I was too busy trying not to scream. It really is the archetype of zombie movies, and everyone who works on zombie related media should be forced to watch this. Literally, forced to watch this. Hold their eyes open until they memorize the pattern.

The zombie apocalypse starts and rages through humanity. The group struggles to survive, and are smart about how they go about trying to live just a little bit longer.

Dawn of the Dead earned itself a 100/100 on so many levels. If you haven’t watched it recently, put it on your short list, you won’t regret it.

My one bit of advice is to just watch the old cut. I watched the old, some new, and some modified to make them 3D. In my opinion the gold old standard definition cut holds up the best. This movie isn’t about gimmicks or CGI, and the old school cut shows off the movie the best as far as I am concerned.
