Witness Infection opens with a local country boy walking through the woods. He’s taking his new neighbor who just moved into town from New Jersey out into the woods to hunt. Whether it’s the bad sandwich or something else, our friendly hunter ends up being eaten by his new friend.
Sometimes the past comes back to bite you. Two rival mob families are transferred from the Witness Protection Agency by mistake to same city, Temecula, CA.

When we come back from the opening scene we are introduced to Carlo, played by Robert Belushi. Yes, he is a member of the famous Belushi clan, and is the nephew of the great John Belushi. His father is an Italian Mobster who needs him to marry his adversaries daughter to help create peace. Both mobster families have been put in the same town by the FBI. The struggle is how to figure out how to live together. Apparently an alliance based on marriage is the best idea.
We are then treated to a montage of townspeople eating sausage and peppers – which I am guessing is how the Zombie virus spreads?
The family dinner is a disaster, but at least it was a a bit amusing. Carlo doesn’t want to marry just to create a family alliance. In the end he doesn’t have a whole lot of choice if he wants to keep all his family alive.
We are at minute 31 when the Zombies show in force and things start to get more Zombie Movie than Soprano Slapstick.
Everyone who ate the sausages appears to be turning, or in the process of turning. Unfortunately, not even puppies are safe.
As the infection takes hold, Carlo and his small gang of survivors face off against crazed mobsters, zombies, and crazed mobster zombies.
Witness Infection Scoring
Witness Infection is an odd blend of Zombie Movie, Mobster Movie, and comedy, and it mostly works. The contaminated food thing is a little bit played out, and the movie struggles just a bit to hit its stride between serious, funny, and slapstick, but that is just me being hyper critical. Witness Infection scored a 71/100, making it Worth Your Time.
