This is a story as old as time.
Hand a shotgun to a new shooter, and then don’t instruct them on proper stance or instruct them on how they kick.
A shooter in motion is a dangerous thing.

Resident Evil: Extinction is the third installment of the Resident Evil (RE) movie franchise. The attempts to control the T Virus escape have failed, and the world has been consumed by the undead. Umbrella corporation, and their workers survive in underground bunkers as they try and find a cure, or at least continue to survive.
Those on the surface, the few that are left, have turned to scavenging and eating anything they can find.
It is a great setup for the third RE movie, but the writers forgot one small thing. You know, zombies. The first two movies were awesome because they had lots of zombies, and lots of zombie fights. Resident Evil: Extinction took a different path. Dr. Isaac has found a way to modify the zombies and make semi intelligent, super zombies. There is a short intent fight after they arrive, but what I really want in a zombie flick is hordes, not a few super zombies.
The ending just gets a littler weirder, as after Alice beats the Dr. Isaac turned super boss zombie, she discovers hundreds of her clones. The movie just feels like it was written by someone who didn’t quite understand what made the first two movies so awesome.
So what did it do to the score? I feel bad giving it, but I have to be honest with myself and if this wasn’t a Resident Evil movie I probably would have turned it off after the very slow initial 30 minutes, which earned this installment a 62/100.

This isn’t the shooters fault, but whomever let them sit at that bench put a lot of people at risk – look how she sweeps whomever is behind her with that barrel.
That is just scary, and I hope they only loaded one round, and the kid wasn’t hurt.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse is one of those rare sequels that is better than the original, and given that the original Resident Evil scored a 92/100.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse has everything that makes a zombie movie awesome. First you have Milla Jovovich as the main character Alice, and Milla just kicks *ass oh so well. Then you have what I love to see in any zombie movie, and that is hordes of the undead overrunning defensive positions.
There are several epic horde scenes and they really are at the top tier of what I know I want to see in a zombie movie.
Lastly, there are all the little touches, like the scene in the school where the map is just covered in little, bloody, hand prints.
If you are looking for something to do while you are on lock down from Covid-19, go watch Resident Evil: Apocalypse and let me know if you agree with my 93/100 score.

The original Resident Evil movie was released in 2002 and begins the series by explaining exactly what happened under Raccoon City when the T Virus was released. Resident Evil has some awesome zombie scenes and top notch visual and special effects. If you haven’t seen Resident Evil or just haven’ watched in in ten years (like me), I guarantee the movie stands up really well.
Resident Evil earned itself a 92/100. If you enjoy Zombie Movies, Resident Evil is am must have in your library.
