I’m going to assume this is a new shooter based on how this little scene plays out.
Thankfully someone is there to keep her from sweeping everyone else with a loaded weapon – but this could likely have been avoided if she had been given some better prep, and started with .22 or .22LR.
Be safe, you can’t survive the Zombie Apocalypse if you get killed at the range by a new shooter.
Dawning of the Dead was a refreshing, back to the basic Zombie Movie for me. Why? It has all the things a classic Zombie Movie should have. There are plenty of zombies, some really awesome hordes in hallways scenes, and plenty of violence.
This is what I would call a popcorn movie. Pop some popcorn, and sit down and enjoy the zombies while you eat. Is it the best zombie movie ever? No, but it has all the things that a good zombie movie should have, it just didn’t quite hit on every cylinder consistently.
I could have done with a little less love story and the special effects are good, but there were a few times when the gore looks a little poorly CGI’d, which cost Dawning of the Dead a few points, bringing it to a 72/100. If this movie had been made a decade ago, I wouldn’t have taken the points off for the CGI, but I expect more from a movie made in 2017.

I originally watched Cockneys Vs. Zombies back in 2013 (old review) while high on pain meds after a kidney stone. I wrote a review back then, but it was so long ago I wasn’t putting things in lists yet.
So how was it? I bought myself a present in the form of a bottle of RedBreast 12 Year Irish Whiskey – which I will review later today. So I was in a fairly good mood while re watching Cockneys Vs. Zombies. So to reproduce my results you may need to drink a bit of good Irish Whiskey.
Cockneys Vs. Zombies is a campy, fun movie. If you have a friend or loved ones who don’t enjoy hard core zombie movies, this is a great way to enjoy some zombie media time together.
While I was watching the movie my youngest walked by and got sucked in, all by the zombie walker chase scene.
Cockneys Vs. Zombies is fun and I just love the cross generational relationship between Ray, played by Alan Ford and his grandsons. The movie made me smile and laugh a few times, and I enjoyed watching it a second time, which should tell you something right there.
So, when I was using a one through five scale I gave this a five. Now that I’ve expanded into a hundred point scale, this is still a very enjoyable movie, and it is in the top quarter of zombie movies you could watch – so don’t be discouraged by the 75/100.

Yes, yes you do. I paused The Mad twenty five minutes in because I was like, “Where are the zombies?”. The Mad spends way too much time with the family drama and explaining how the zombies are made. I get it, you don’t need to spend twenty minutes on the cows. Just show the farmers putting green water in the cow feed and be done with it.
Cut all the family and explaining the silly source of the infection out and concentrate on the gosh darn zombies!
Why didn’t they do that here?
I think the honest reason is that if they cut all that out the movie would have been twenty minutes long. Which is why The Mad earned itself a 19/100.

Deadheads is an interesting concept. It is basically a buddy movie romantic comedy with zombies. Does that sound like a lot? It is, and it means the filmmakers had a lot of ground to cover.
How did the do?
I’d say this is a zombie movie for people who don’t like zombie movies. It’s not what Romero fans are going to be looking for. However, if your significant other doesn’t like zombie movies, they might find this acceptable.
What’s the real problem with Deadheads? It is trying to be a little bit of everything across very disparate fan bases, and its not hitting it out of the park on any of those fronts.
So if you want to watch a zombie movie with someone who doesn’t like zombie movies, give this a try, but otherwise keep looking. Which is why this earned a 52/100.

Poor kid…
I remember seeing World War Z in the theater and being blown away with the story and the zombies, and was curious to see if it has held up. It’s crazy to think its 7 years old at this point.
So how does World War Z hold up?
Quite well. It is what every perfect zombie movie should have. It starts with the outbreak and spends just the right amount of time showing the horrors of the world ending, while at the same time showing us how the main characters managed to fight and survive through it. The initial zombie attack and rapid spread on the streets in World War Z was really hasn’t been beaten in any movie yet. This is what a zombie movie should be.
Next comes the planning phase. A good zombie’s “middle” will focus on how the main characters will survive long term. For World War Z that means Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) being told that if he wants his family to stay safely with the remnants of the US government, he better do what he’s told and go investigate the root cause. The second phase of any good zombie movie always needs a few hordes, and World War Z delivers on that front as well.
If there is any hope for humanity, it will understanding the beginning of the apocalypse.
Supposedly there will be a World War Z reboot at some time, I hope that’s not just a pipe dream, this really was one of the best zombie movies of the 21st century.

Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies is more of a story of two competing meat pie companies with a bit of evil big agro thrown in.
I think Attack of the Southern Fried Zombies was going for fun and campy, but it missed the mark and was just silly. There were a couple interesting scenes when the zombies got to the fair, but this was missing the right kind of zombie violence for me and the whole bit about the Kudzu and the zombie vines just felt forced.
Overall there are better options, so take my sacrifice of time and pick something that has a better score than this 29/100.

This isn’t safe, and its not how we make new shooters want to become experienced shooters…
Night of the Living Deb (2015) is a great movie if you want to watch a comedy with some some zombies with your significant other who maybe doesn’t like zombie movies so much.
Night of the Living Deb is a romantic comedy hiding inside a zombie movie. Deb is a quirky woman looking for love who ends up trying to survive the Zombie Apocalypse with Ryan, who happens to have ties directly to the cause of the outbreak.
How much you like this movie is going to depend on what you were looking for when you turned it on. If your trying to have a few drinks with your significant other and laugh a little, you will enjoy Night of the Living Deb , if your looking for a hard core zombie flick, look elsewhere.
I’m going to give Night of the Living Deb a 70/100, mostly because its a great flick to enjoy with people who don’t like harder core zombie movies.
