The Walking Dead, Season 2, Episode 11

Judge, Jury, Executioner opens with Daryl playing hardball, beating the snot out of a prisoner. Daryl wants to know details about the other man’s group. How many are there? What types of weapons do they have? Daryl wants details that will give Team Rick a chance to survive. For some reason the prisoner decides to tell Daryl about what his group did to the two girls. They were raped while their father was forced to watch. Daryl, rightfully, kicks the snot out of the guy.

When Daryl goes to report to the group, Rick does something logical, and says they have to kill the kid. Dale, being the moral compass of the group, disagrees.

Dale Arguing That They Can’t Put People To Death

This is one of those times when Rick makes a solid decision. While I love Dale’s morality, the world they live in is one that would require some harsh responses to survive.

As Dale tries to rally support to his view of the world, Andrea agrees to watch the prisoner. She actually agrees with Rick’s viewpoint, but she agrees to help Dale for the short term. Shane then goes right back to questioning Rick’s decision. Even though I think Rick is doing what Shane would have done here, right?

Inside the barn we then see Carl being an idiot. He decides to go have a chat with the prisoner. Of course he gets way to close. Shane saves Carl before anything bad could happen, but still.

Dale then goes to find Daryl, hoping to sway him to his side. Instead Dale gets a shock when Daryl shows him just how smart he is. Daryl already knew that Shane killed Otis.

Daryl Showing His SMRTs

Carl then shows what a d*ck he can be when he tells Carol that heaven doesn’t’ exist. Rick tries to talk to Carl, telling him to apologize and make things right with Carol. Instead of going to find Carol, Carl makes another questionable decision, and steals a 45 from Daryl’s motorcycle. Carl then goes into the woods and almost gets bit. The kid has no luck. He almost sits on a Zombie stuck in the mud.

Back at the farm we see a touching scene between Hershel and Beth. This leads to Hershel sharing a few bits of wisdom with Glen. He also gives Glen two gifts. The first is Hershel’s family heirloom watch. The second is his blessing to the relationship he has with Maggie.

The group then has a meeting about the death penalty, which basically turns into Dale vs everyone else. At least until Andrea chimes in to support Dale a little bit. With the decision, made Rick, Shane, and Daryl take the prisoner out to the barn.

Please Don’t

Rick is just about to pull the trigger when Carl shows up and tells Rick to do it. The cold bloodedness makes Rick falter, unable to do it after hearing Carl’s words. Isn’t Carl the reason that Rick is doing this? To keep his son safe? On another note – is the kid just free range? Does anyone actually watch the kid? Lori banged her husband’s partner while his body wasn’t cold, and she let’s the kid just wander around in the post apocalyptic world? Rick’s to blame too, but at least in his case he had a priority task, which is why I’m wondering what Lori was thinking?

While Rick is chickening out, Dale has gone for a walk to clear his head, and finds a wounded cow, and then a Zombie that surprises him, taking him to the ground and ripping open his chest in the process.

Dale Falls

First of all, this sucks. Dale was one of my favorite characters. Secondly, this really highlights why basic survival rules are so important. No one goes out alone. Always go out in groups! It also highlights just how strong the Zombies are. Tearing someone’s chest open takes a lot of strength.

Judge, Jury, Executioner ends with Daryl being forced to put Dale, who is mortally injured and in excruciating pain, down. Thus, the story of Dale comes to an end. Dale, you will be missed.

Judge, Jury, Executioner Scoring

I’m giving Judge, Jury, Executioner a 70/100, mostly due to its focus on the death penalty drama, and because they killed of Dale, who I really liked.

Z Nation Season 3, Episode 11

Doc’s Angels opens with Kaya watching Enders killing Zombies as she eats some snacks. Citizen Z comes over and comments on how empty the world seems. This leads to a touching moment where Kaya takes his hand and he presses it to his lips.

Kaya Giving Citizen Z Some Emotional Support

We then cut over to Doc who is moving across open ground until he sees what looks like a castle in the background. As eh walks he is listening to a strange radio broadcast on his handheld.

Castle In The Distance

Doc’s not very into the ground when he encounters what appear to be Bedazzled Zombies. Not only do they sparkle, but they also add some armor, because Doc’s handgun doesn’t do much damage.

The Zombies corner Doc and wound him, but thankfully don’t manage to get a bite in. When Doc wakes up he’s been bandaged and dressed in clean clothes, and there are three woman watching him sleep.

Doc’s Angels?

The three seem nice as they put balm on his wounds and give him a back massage. They even do his hair up in a nice man bun. At least they seem nice until he tries to use their radio. It doesn’t matter though, they cut the radio wire under the desk.

With the radio not working the women feed Doc. As he eats they tell him that they set up the whole compound on their own. The women seem to be in competition for Doc’s attention. Then the bald girl steps it up by rubbing his inner thigh with her foot.

Doc gets to see just how crazy the women are when its time to feed their pets. As the girls are working with their pets Doc almost gets eaten. Thanks to his quick reflexes he takes out the sparkling Zombie instead.

Doc’s Fast On His Feet

As the girls entertain Doc, he starts to realize that he should get moving. But they offer him some weed which distracts him from his original thought. When he goes to bed he gets three visits. The first two are openly flirty while the bald woman is scary flirty, bringing Doc a sword. In the end, Doc gives in to temptation, and wakes up the next morning after what I can only assume is an exhausting night.

Post Foursome Napping

Doc apparently wore the girls out because he’s the first one up in the morning and discovers the radio’s transmission wire is cut just before the girls find him.

As he’s fleeing he realizes the girls have been using humans to make “art”. They have a row of skulls and couches and lamp shades made out of leather, human leather. The girls did tell him they make everything locally. As Doc flees he finds the torture dungeon, or as doc says, the Hobby Lobby of hell.

Hobby Lobby Of Hell

With their secret known, the girls put on their gimp masks and confront Doc as he comes out of the basement.

Gimp Masks On

Doc is getting his *ss kicked until the other dungeon prisoners come to his rescue. The distraction gives Doc a chance to get back to the radio. He tells Citizen Z that Lucy is alive but captive. It is up to Citizen Z to get the message to Warren.

The girls break into the radio room before Doc can tell Citizen Z where he is but Doc has escaped up the radio tower, treed by the girls and their pet Zombies. Doc just barely escapes by using the towers height to drop him over the fence when it collapses.

Doc’s Angels ends with Doc fleeing back across open ground before we cut over to Kaya telling Citizen Z that she cracked the encrypted sat phone transmission they picked up earlier. They know where The Man is going to be after he called for a helicopter to pick him and Lucy up. Now Citizen Z and Kaya just need to get the information to Warren so she can do something about it.

Doc’s Angels Scoring

Doc’s Angels wasn’t really about the Zombies, so I have to give it a 70/100, even though it was all about Doc, who is one of my favorites.

Things I Loved About This Episode

  • The creepy music really set the mood throughout the episode.
  • Doc’s Bedazzled Zombie Kill.
  • Doc talking about how 10K is the closest thing he has to a son. It was a one liner, but it was very touching.
  • The crazy girl talking about Columbian neck ties and her third husband, which was pre Zombie. I loved the look of worry and fear on Doc’s face as he realized she was nuts.
  • Rabbit Milk – “I milked it myself.”
  • The girls putting Doc’s beard hair in their book.

iZombie , Season 1, Episode 11

Astroburger kicks off with Major in the hospital, waiting for his buddy Scott to play chess. When Major goes to find him, he’s in his tub, his wrists cut, a suicide. Or at least that what it was meant to look like.

Game Over, Man

Death Tub

It only takes Ravi a single look at the tub to say its a suspicious death. If Scott E had been alive when he was put in the water, it would have been much darker than a light pink.

Pink Water

Liv takes the chance while she’s at the hospital to talk one on one with Major. Major tentatively tells Liv that Scott E told him there were Zombies at the boat party massacre where Liv and Scott E both were at. Liv doesn’t admit the truth, but she does feel like betrayed Major, or at least the reason she thought it was a safe to let Major commit himself.

That night Liv is there for Peyton’s first date with Ravi, and Major shows up because Ravi changed the locks. This leads to something like a double date as Major, Liv, Ravi, and Peyton end up eating Chinese food while looking for something to watch that won’t trigger Major. While everyone is worried about Major, Scott E’s brain is kicking in and Liv is having delusions.

Suzuki’s Brains

Back at Blaine’s headquarters Suzuki is has come to pick up his brains, and shares that Liv and Lowell may have been working together, which doesn’t seem to shock Blaine at all.

The news leads Blaine to head to the MEs office under the pretense of following up on the cure Ravi is researching.

When Blaine leaves, Scott E’s friend, the local newsman shows up. Scott E was his pot dealer, and they were close. They would apparently watch cartoons and movies and get stoned. The room doesn’t look like it’s been tossed, but the newsman can tell someone has been there, which leads to him and Liv using the phone tracker app to see who took Scott E’s phone.

Find My Phone – A Killer App

1st & Lenora

The funny thing is that I’ve worked for two companies based on the west coast and have been to Seattle more times than I can count, and I knew exactly where this was. The app appears to show them somewhere near 1st and Lenora. I’ve actually stayed at the waterfront hotel by the harbor for a conference years ago.

First And Lenora Streets

Liv and the newsman stakeout Scott E’s phone location. They break into the apartment and find phones, and a ton of drugs. Liv calls Clive, but he can’t do anything because she broke the law to get the info. This leads Liv to set up a noise complaint call so the police can come investigate.

Back at Scott E’s apartment, it turns into a reunion with Major, Blaine, and Julian showing up to try and track down clues. This leads Major to decide that climbing in the trunk of Julian’s car is a great way to track down who he thinks is the Candy Man, which reveals to Major where Blaine’s home base at the meat shop is.

When Liv gets home Major is in her bed, but she doesn’t kick him out, which drives me nuts. Great job on not sending Major mixed signals girl.

With the police having a reason to investigate, Liv and Clive get on the path of one of the staff at the mental asylum, which leads them to a female doctor who was trying to get pregnant.

Major Can’t Quit Her

Back at home Liv rails against the doctor and her actions when Major grabs Liv and kisses her.

Stolen Kiss

Major begs Liv to tell him why she broke up with him. Did she cheat on him? Did he bore her? Liv breaks down and tells him that Zombies are real, and she broke up with him to protect him from what she’d become.

With the truth out in the open Liv and Blaine hug, Liv crying tears of relief and joy.

Back at Blaine’s headquarters someone has stolen all the brains from one of the trucks, which leads to Blaine stabbing his delivery driver in the neck as punishment.

Meanwhile Ravi is working on his Zombie cure, and he’s close. He’s been able to gradually make a rat’s vitals more normal.

The episode ends with Liv’s victims brain revealing to her that the newsman who’s been helping her the whole time was just another of Scott E’s delusions. But they were helpful, as it gives her the bit of data she needs to unlock her victims phone.

Liv thought the video would be useful, but it turns out one of the Zombies caught on the phone video is of her, which kind of puts a damper on how Liv can use the footage.

Liv Eating Brains Just After She Turned

The episode ends on a twist as Liv realizes that not everything she’s been experiencing has been real. Major shows up at her door with proof that zombies exist, he’s got all the brains stolen from Blaine’s delivery, and he vows to kill the Zombies. All of Them. Which makes me think the tearful reveal was just another delusion.

Astroburger Score

Astroburger scored a 72/100. It was a solid episode with a good twist. For me, I don’t like when delusions are used to make you believe one thing only to have it revealed later that it was only in someone’s head. It makes you question more than I want to when I’m trying to enjoy TV. What is a real memory? What is just a plot point I’m over analyzing? It annoys me when I’m just trying to enjoy an episode of a Zombie TV show. Still, Astroburger scored a 72/100, making it Worth Your Time.

Z Nation, Season 2, Episode 11, Corporate

Corporate Retreat has one of the most awesome opening scenes ever. This is just a kick *ss few moments of Zombie Violence. I loved the segment where 10K covers Doc and a through and through shot bounces off Doc’s necklace to kill another zombie.

10K kicking some serious *ss

Outside the smoke is thick and so are the Z’s. Once Team Murphy makes it to the hotel they find themselves in the midst of a work retreat. The survivors left in the hotel were there for a conference. They’ve been stuck in the hotel with a self help corporate guru since the Zombie Apocalypse started.

Team Murphy

Shortly after Team Murphy has joined the survivors in the hotel there is a shooting. Murphy and another hotel guest have been shot. To make things worse, the bullet went through Murphy. This means the wounded hotel guest is now on the same path as Cassandra.

This leads to a crazy “trust circle” scene. The hotel guests and Team Murphy pass along a didgeridoo to decide who gets to talk.

After the initial “trust circle” kicks out one of the hotel guests to face the Z’s in the smoke, Doc explains how he’s been feeding the wounded man Murphy’s blood. You have to love Doc.

As Warren discusses the situation with the Corporate Retreat Leader they wander down to the kitchen to find that there is a Z in the deep freezer.

Surprise Freezer Zombie

Know what happens when Z’s are around? People get bit, and then you have more Z’s. Good thing 10K and Vasquez are both good shots. Otherwise the Corporate Retreat Guests may have lost more than they did.

Shots

Shots are heard close by and the team rushes in to find that Doc has been shot at while he cared for Murphy. The stash of food was stolen.

The team splits up to search the hotel. This leads to Addy and one of the female guests, Dana, being alone together. The woman seems to know something about what’s going on. She’s anxious and begs Addy to take her with her when they leave. As the two are hiding, Warren and Vasquez come in and clear the room.

Closet Time WIth Addy

As Dana and Addy spill out of the closet I love Warren’s “Everything all right?” comment. There is just something about the drawl that says so much more than the words.

The moment is then shattered as whoever stole the food makes some noise. All the attention gets drawn back to the main lobby. Vasquez and Warren charge in and find themselves face to face with the Corporate Retreat Leader. He asks them if they caught the thief?

Yes, I thought his sudden appearance was suspicious as well.

As the survivors sit in lobby, trying to make sense of everything that’s happening we get a moment where Addy and Dana are looking at each other across the room. Clearly they have a connection.

Glory Hole

Out in the lobby the situation isn’t so good. The horde seems attracted to the hotel, and some of them are starting to break through. This leads to a wonderful Glory Hole kill.

Glory Hole Kill

Lots of bad things happen after that. The Z’s already trapped in the hotel break free of their quarantine wing. Then the glass in the lobby shatters. Everyone flees into the kitchen where Doc is performing medical experiments with his two patients. The stress and anxiety turns the survivors into a bickering mass of name calling until Warren puts her foot down.

It’s time to find out who the killer is.

Doc has been giving the wounded hotel guest Murphy blood, all so he can ask the now Zombie Guest who shot him. It wasn’t the Corporate Retreat Leader after all, but Dana’s hotel beau instead, who wants Dana to leave with them. The look on Addy’s face is shock and pain. At least Dana had the good grace to say she never wanted anyone to get hurt. Well Dana, Addy got hurt! (And some people where shot and killed, but Addy got hurt!!!)

Revenge is taken however as the Zombie Guest takes Doc’s gun and kills the grocery thief, then gets shot in return.

Wrap Up

This is just about when Murphy wakes up from his concussion and the story quickly wrap up. With Murphy awake the zombies are released from whatever was pulling them to the hotel, and Ziggy ends up back at the door, covered in gore. They thought he was the killer originally and exiled him, but he did just fine with his hammer.

Iggy Returns

The Corporate Retreat Leader pays for his decision by getting his head crushed with his talking stick. Good for you Iggy!

Corporate Retreat ends with a little bit of a heartache.

Addy and Dana Say Goodbye

There is clearly longing here for Addy, but she doesn’t really trust Dana for good reason, but still, you can’t just force a feeling to stop. They say their goodbyes, and they both hope they get to see each other again. Sadly, there was no kiss. Come on, be brave, show a peck on the lips or a hug, right? Then Addy climbs into the van to find all eyes on her.

Corporate Retreat Scoring

Corporate Retreat scored an 85/100. It opened with some solid action and then kept the pace and mystery up throughout, making it Worth Your Time.

Z Nation, Season 1, Episode 11

Sisters of Mercy is another classic episode of Z Nation. Team Murphy is whole again, at least for a little while. Addy and Mack stumble upon the rest of the group in what looks like the bowels of an industrial complex.

The team finds a ride and starts heading west again. Once on the open read, they encounter a zombie child.

Zombie Child

Shortly after, they encounter a very similar young man, this time alive. He tells Warren he’s walking to the city to meet his dad. Warren tries to talk him out of it, but the only thing that gets him to get in the truck is the promise of a ride into the city, if he’ll help them find some food.

The kid leads Team Murphy back to the Sisters of Mercy, which is where we find out just how f*cked up surviving the Zombie Apocalypses can be. There are no men allowed inside the compound, and Warren, Addy, and Cassandra quickly find out that the kids walking to Salt Lake City are basically being put out to die. No male older than 13 is allowed to stay.

One of the bits of awesomeness from this episode is the Zombie Bear of punishment. You don’t want to be punished by the Sisters of Mercy.

Sisters of Mercy Scoring

Sisters of Mercy ends with a little bit of a shock, as Team Murphy loses one of their number to the sisters, but this was a great episode that scored a 82/100, making it Worth Your Time.
