The Walking Dead, Season 2, Episode 13

Beside the Dying Fire is the Season 2 season finale. The episode opens with a feasting horde. As they eat they hear the noise of a helicopter overhead. The noise attracts the undead. The Zombies slowly shuffle in the direction the helicopter is flying.

Hello Copter

Unfortunately for Team Rick, the copter appears to be drawing the ever growing horde towards Hershel’s farm. A few fences aren’t going to stop them.

Zombies Vs Fences – Zombies Win

Even worse, the horde hears the shot that kills Shane. As Rick and Carl walk back to the farm we see the horde approaching in the dark.

Carl & Rick Walking Back To The Farm

Spoilers Below

Back in the house the anxiety grows. Shane and Rick haven’t come back yet, and no one appears to even realize that Carl’s missing. Lori is such a great mom! Come on people, keep track of your kids during the Apocalypse.

It’s not long before everyone realizes what is about to hit them. Rick and Carl hear the horde behind them as Daryl comes out onto the front porch. The horde is coming.

The Horde Approaches

Rick and Carl don’t have an easy path to the house. The horde is too large and is between Rick, Carl, and the house. Just as Rick and Carl reach the barn, Lori realizes that Carl’s not in the main house with her.

The Horde

With not a lot of options Carl and Rick light the barn on fire to stage an escape. Meanwhile Daryl tries to lead the horde away from the house in a vehicle. Setting the barn on fire seems like a really questionable decision. Rick and Carl escape up to the 2nd floor after the RV shows up to save them. Sadly, the RV driver doesn’t survive his rescue mission. It does beg the question. What was the plan if the RV didn’t come to rescue them and the building is on fire?

It doesn’t take long for the majority of the survivors to realize they need to flee. Hershel tries to put up a fight but just ends up wasting shotgun shells. The horde was too large for a single old guy to defeat. (I could have done it however!)

Hershel Wasting Ammunition

People are dying as the survivors are overwhelmed by the horde.

Hershel almost gets bitten, but Rick is there to save him. It is a sad day for Hershel. The farm is lost. The Zombie horde is just too big. Everyone flees, stranding Andrea and Carol. Thankfully Daryll is there to save Carol after he hears her screaming.

The farm has been overrun.

They Morning After

As the sun rises, the survivors come to grips with what they have lost. Glen and Maggie are alone in a vehicle. Glen tells Maggie that he loves her as she breaks down in fear. She has no way of knowing if her father and sister are still alive.

As the survivors slowly regroup right back where everything started, on the highway where they lost Sophia.

As the now much smaller Team Rick drives off we cut over to Andrea, fleeing through the woods, pursued by Zombies as she runs through the trees.

Team Rick is forced to pull over so they can try and organize a resupply mission. As they are planning, Rick is forced to tell the other survivors that they all carry the virus. If you die, you turn. Rick then tells Lori that he was forced to kill Shane after Shane lured him out in the woods to ambush him. Lori, being Lori, reacts with anger, instead of compassion. It has to suck when your husband kills your baby daddy right?

Back in the woods, Andrea is out of ammo and exhausted, and is about to get bit. She is rescued by an epic newcomer, Michonne.

Michonne

Team Rick is sitting by their fire when they hear something moving in the dark. People are panicking, afraid and unsure. The tension causes Rick to lose his cool. He rages. Angry that he killed his best friend to protect them all. Or least that is how he sees it.

Rick finishes his rant, bringing everyone back to reality. Then the camera slowly pans away until we see the Prison in the distance.

The Prison

Beside the Dying Fire Score

Beside the Dying Fire was not just the Season 2 finale, but was also an amazingly powerful episode with tons of action. It also gave us a little taste of what is to come in Season 3 to keep us hooked. Beside the Dying Fire scores a 100/100, and is Worth Your Time.

Z Nation Season 3, Episode 13

Duel is such an ominous name isn’t it? I can’t wait to see who the duelists are? Warren vs The Man? Warren vs Murphy? The Man vs Murphy? There are so many options!

The episode starts with Addy finding Lucy down by the docks.

Addy tries to get Lucy to flee before The Man returns, but the kid isn’t as old as she looks. Unfortunately for Addy, Lucy still acts like a spoiled brat. Unfortunately, this gives The Man time to return and put Addy through the ringer. Lucy flees, forcing The Man and Addy to both chase after her instead of fight each other.

Addy Getting A Beat Down

Addy tries to reach Lucy, but gets trapped on a burning boat. The Man flees with the kid as Addy struggles to survive. Addy escapes just before the boat goes up in a ball of flames.

Boom Goes The Boat

Addy thinks she’s lost the trail. Lucky for her Lucy is a bright kid. Lucy uses her Zombie control to have a dismembered arm point in her direction, telling Addy which way to go.

Even beat up and hurt, Addy still can’t help but smile as she leaves Doc a note, and some Z weed before heading back after The Man.

Addy Took A Beating

With a little bit of corner cutting Addy is able to get in front of The Man and doesn’t screw around with the Z Whacker this time. Instead opting to just put a few bullets in him.

The Man Goes Down

Addy rescues Lucy, but for some reason doesn’t put a bullet in The Man’s head before driving away.

Safe for the moment, Addy stops to get Lucy some new clothing, and is forced to tell Lucy that her mother is dead. As expected, this doesn’t go over well with the kid. This leads to Lucy telling Addy that the Zombies still have thoughts, and remember things like their names. Addy thinks the kid is making it up, but isn’t quite sure.

The really bad news? All this lollygagging gives The Man the time he needs to catch back up and take Lucy from Addy. This leads to another face off between Addy and The Man, and quite honestly, Addy is outmatched.

Addy Gets Another Beatdown

Addy ends up with what looks like a broken or dislocated arm and The Man gets away again with Lucy.

Once in the car the stress makes Lucy age again. The Man now has to deal with a moody teenager.

Back at the river, Addy is up, but she’s in a lot of pain. She is forced to put her shoulder back in the socket with a brutal smack into a tree.

While Addy is suffering, Doc is having a much better time, hallucinating about Back to the Future due to the high quality Z Weed Addy left for him.

While Addy is suffering, The Man is on a search for chocolate for Lucy, not quite realizing why its such a priority until she freaks out. She thinks she’s dying when she starts to, well, menstruate.

Lucy Is Growing Up

Emboldened by her realization that The Man is afraid of Zombies, Lucy steals The Man’s truck and makes her way out to the forest road to pick up Addy. Lucy thinks she killed the man when she ran him over, but he’s one tough b*stard and is just holding onto the bottom.

Once again The Man has Lucy and Addy is not looking too good.

Addy Takes A Beating But Refuses To Give Up

Duel ends with Addy stealing another truck and picking up Doc who is bicycling after her. He looks like he wants to cry when he sees how hurt she is but instead he gets in the truck so they can chase after Lucy together.

Duel Scoring

In the end, I totally guessed wrong. The Duel was between Addy and The Man, and she put up one hell of a fight. Duel scored a 90/100 and is Worth Your Time. It was non stop on the action front and had a ton of really good fight scenes. Even if Addy was getting her butt kicked in most of them.

iZombie , Season 1, Episode 13

Blaine’s World begins with Blaine and Julien in a panic. They are trying to find the brains that Major stole. Blaine has already sold the brains for a lot of money. They need to find them.

Major Cold Spell

Julien has searched everywhere he can think of, but he can’t find the brains. Major’s not helping either, he’s not in a talking mood. He knows if he tells them he gave them to Liv to test, she will be in danger. He’d rather freeze to death than put Liv in danger.

While Major is freezing, Liv, Clive, and Ravi are at the MEs office. They’ve got Miss Giovanni on their table. Miss Giovanni didn’t survive the beat down. Liv does her thing, making a Giovanni sandwich.

As Liv is eating, Ravi has made more progress. Their second Zombie Rat has turned Normal Rat, but they only have one dose. Ravi doesn’t have enough ingredients to make more. As Liv and Ravi are discussing the cure, Liv get’s a vision. A lot of puzzle pieces fall into place.

Assassin Zombie had saved the video proof of Zombie life. When the kids hit him with their car, they took his wallet, and the memory card inside it. Now Max Rager Corp needs to cover their tracks. It doesn’t matter how many people they kill, or die from the Zombie Virus.

We then cut to the CEO of Max Rager, Vaughn Du Clark, recruiting a new chief scientist. The last one got a little too close to an angry and hungry Zombie.

As Vaughn Du Clark is ending his interview, Liv and Clive shows up. This is perfect timing as Max Rager’s new chief scientist wants to see a Zombie in action. He knows that Liv isn’t human.

Back in the freezer, Blaine promises Major that he’s going to keep him just cold enough to suffer. He won’t let Major die. Blaine wants to know where his Astronaut Brains are, and he’s willing to torture Major to get the information.

Out in the wild, Max Rager’s team has bought the thumb drive. The only surviving teen was smart enough to pay a hobo to watch his car though. It saves his life when he gets waved off a minute before his car goes boom!

Boom

The kids thinks he made it out with the bag of money but when he starts to paw through it, he finds out that he’s not the only smart one. The Max Rager agents have put a tracker in the cash.

Cash Tracker

So if they were going to blow up the car with the money, why not just put some explosives in the bag too?

As the surviving kid tries to flee, he’s picked up by the police and ends up in the police interrogation room with Liv and Clive. The kid wants a deal, to be tried as a minor, but Clive has other ideas. The kid can cooperate or they will let him go so he can take his chances on the street, and the kid is smart enough to know he’s dead once he leaves the police station.

When Ravi gets home he calls Liv because Major hasn’t come home. Liv decides she has to lie to Major about the brains he gave her. She tells him they are Monkey Brains, but by texting Major she lets Blaine know exactly where his products are. Liv does the only thing she can, and agrees to exchange Major for the brains.

Liv, being the trusting soul that she is, hands over the brains before she confirms that they actually gave her Major. While Liv is being tricked, Major is setting a blaze in the freezer with the lighter he found on the dead kid, and affects an escape.

This gives him enough time to go back to his vehicle and get strapped, which includes a grenade. Major is in the mood to even a few scores.

Majorly Pissed Off

This leads to Major kicking some ass. Blaine has just lost four employees, and returns with Julien just as Major is completing his work on the first four. Julien ends up in the freezer with a grenade, but before Major can take care of Blaine, he gets a knife to get guts.

Blaine leaves Major to bleed out when Liv walks into the front of the Butcher Shop and puts a bullet in Blaine, thinking that Major is already dead. Blaine is rubbing his power into Liv’s nose when she stabs him with the dose of the cure she was going to give herself.

Human Again

Blaine flees, human again, while Liv looks at Major who is about to die, and does the only thing she can think of to save him, and scratches him.

Liv takes Major back to her apartment and tries to explain why she did what she did. Major isn’t exactly happy that she turned him. Liv is hoping they can be together as they are both Zombies, but Major is hurt and angry. Liv has done nothing but lie to him, and even allowed let him admit himself to a Psyche ward rather than tell him the truth.

While Liv is getting her soul crushed, Suzuki has realized that without the butcher shop he doesn’t have a source of food, and blows himself, and the shop up just as Liv’s brother is arriving for his first day of work.

After the police show up Clive realizes that everything isn’t quite what it seems, and even though Suzuki set it up to look like he went down with a fight, Clive has some intuition that Major was involved.

Blaine’s World ends on a heartbreaking note. Liv’s brother is in surgery with multiple shrapnel wounds and lots of blood loss.

Brother Down

The doctors need blood, and Liv is a potential downer. The screen goes dark as Liv is telling her mother no, she can’t give her brother blood, but she also can’t tell them the real reason.

The Season 1 finale has some great action when Major goes on the attack and rapped up a lot of storylines in a very satisfactory manner. I’m going to give Blaine’s World an 80/100 making it Worth Your Time. If you have someone in your life who isn’t a zombie fan, but does like murder mystery shows, this is a must watch that you will both enjoy.

Z Nation, Season 2, Episode 13

Adiós, Muchachos picks up pretty much where Party with the Zeros left off. Vasquez is about to get a bullet before Dr. Kurian is instructed to test his serum. Only, La Reina makes Dr. Kurian stop and test it on himself instead.

Vasquez on the verge of being a zombie serum test subject.

Why? I don’t really know, but it does save Vasquez for the short term as La Reina grows excited as Dr. Kurian survives getting bitten by a Zombie in a box.

Zombie In A Box

With proof in the biting that Dr. Kurian didn’t turn, La Reina has her inner circle and multiple other Zeros injected with the serum. Only, its not a Zombie Vaccine, its just enough of Murphy’s blood to turn the humans so he can control them.

What could go wrong?

Murphy at least had the good grace not to let his core team of companions get injected, which is a good thing, because as the serum takes hold, those injected aren’t just susceptible to Murphy’s mind control, but they slowly turn and appear to hunger for a bit of Murphy directly.

Murphy Snacks

With the Zeros turning on Murphy the team rescues Vasquez before fleeing the compound by releasing the horde of Undead the Zeros keep for composting. Once free of the lower levels Vasquez finally gets what he came for, revenge on the Escorpion for killing his wife and daughter.

Team Murphy then raid the Zeros garage and head out in an assortment of new wheels.

New Wheels

Adiós, Muchachos Scoring

Adiós, Muchachos scored a 69/100 putting it in Save For A Rainy Day territory. There is a lot of drama and politics, but not so much action. Still, it was a fun episode.

Fight me if you disagree…

Z Nation, Season 1, Episode 13

Doctor of the Dead fills in a lot of backstory. Citizen Z routes Team Murphy to a lab in Colorado. What do they find when they get there? They find a lab overrun by zombies. We then get a display of Murphy’s special abilities. Murphy is able to shield the team so they can walk into the lab.

Surrounded by Zombies

As Team Murphy is exploring, we also see flashbacks to pre apocalypse days, when Dr. Walter Kurian is taking samples of peoples brain fluids, while they are still alive.

In order to explore the Colorado lab, Team Murphy has to go through decontamination before they can continue deeper into the lab. This is when we see an awesome shot of Doc’s farmer tan.

Doc’s Tan

Or it dirt? I’m going to be charitable and say its his tan.

Once deep inside the Colorado plant, the team finds Patient 0, just before Dr. Kurian shows up with a few solders.

Citizen Z realizes that Dr. Kurian isn’t exactly who he says he is, but it’s too late for Team Murphy, they are already in trouble. Team Murphy is only saved from disaster by Murphy’s parting gift to Cassandra. Or at least, saved from getting shot.

Murphy has a panic attack, fleeing everything, and in the process triggering the security fail safe protocols of the lab. Apparently the powers that used to be fully understood what was inside, because when the lab’s security protocols are triggered, multiple nukes are launched.

Nukes In Flight

Doctor of the Dead Scoring

Thus ends Season 1 of Z Nation. It appears nukes are about to fall on Team Murphy as well as Citizen Z. Docter of the Dead was a strong ending to the first season, and scored a 91/100, making it Worth Your Time.
